MoominMymbleandMy · 07/05/2009 21:07

I can't get into the old thread so I think we filled it up! I hope everyone finds the new one.

So nice, shiny new thread, nice shiny new AIBU.

AIBU to be jealous of my DH's correspondence with a stranger?

Pogle, I feel I ought to know yours but I'm not getting anywhere.

Maria, this isn't ringing bells at all now. Doh!

OP posts:
pollywobbledoodle · 27/05/2009 20:56

ah moomin, so yours is solved...i do get confused sometimes....even worse i was going for tom sawyer...wrong in so many ways....

MoominMymbleandMy · 27/05/2009 21:04

Don't worry, Pogle, I've just stuck a cranky toddler on my back so he can't get at the keyboard!

Hope you have good weather, Polly. I expect I'll still be skiving on here when you get back.

CJ, I can almost picture your one! But I don't know what it is! Aaargh!

OP posts:
CJCregg · 27/05/2009 22:02

Polly, have a lovely holiday. Moomin, put that toddler to bed!

Need more clues on your wayward DS, Moomin, please.

This blasted singer's really getting on my nerves now. And as for the pianist - I went into the music room yesterday and he wasn't even playing!

Pogleswood · 27/05/2009 22:23

Yes,enjoy your hols,Polly!

I am a bloke and so don't have a DH - I did have a fiancee until I picked up this homeless girl though..(there seems to be blood,so I think she's hurt..)

You're not at Blandings Castle,are you,CJ??

MoominMymbleandMy · 27/05/2009 22:49

I thought CJ's sounded very Wodehouse too, Pogle, but I can't think of a specific book.
And I'm getting nowhere with yours either!

...To be fair, it is just one police officer complaining. But the complaints only began after my DS met these children. They seem pleasant but...

OP posts:
CJCregg · 27/05/2009 22:56

No, I'm not at Blandings, sorry. Far less sophisticated, I'm quite a bluff old cove, you know. My butler despairs of me.

Moomin, I'm getting drawn into one of those hideous situations where I'm convinced I know what your book is and I end up with egg all over my face. And I just hate that! One more clue, then I'll make a fool of myself?

Pogle, you're being extremely cryptic. Again, I think I have an inkling but it's probably wrong ...

MoominMymbleandMy · 27/05/2009 23:02

I have no inklings on either of them!

But the parrot, the opera singer and the old buffer are ringing such loud bells...very irritating.

...I know they are rather insensitive children. The nickname they've given the DS is a very unkind play on his initials...

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 27/05/2009 23:26

I'm stuck on both of yours now!But the parrot and the opera singer do seem very familiar - unlike the police complaints..

Didn't mean to be too cryptic! Two very odd and unpleasant men were round here looking for my girl, claiming to be her brothers...and now she's talking to a pigeon...

Anyway, hope inspiration will strike in the night, goodnight all!

MoominMymbleandMy · 27/05/2009 23:38

Oh, oh, oh Pogle! If anyone asks you if you like cats, they don't mean as pets!

OP posts:
CJCregg · 27/05/2009 23:55

Still don't know what either of you are talking about. Grrr, knew I'd feel thick. Although, as ever, they both sound frustratingly familiar.

I just want this blasted woman and her blasted entourage to leave me in peace. They've had the press round, taking photos, I had to pretend I actually liked the old bag, and that blasted parrot bit me on the nose ...

Night all!

MoominMymbleandMy · 27/05/2009 23:57

...And it makes fun of the LO's weight problem. Not kind at all...

Off to dream about parrots and opera singers.

Night all!

OP posts:
CJCregg · 28/05/2009 00:09

Moomin, don't go - what was your cat/pigeon one?!

Night ...

MoominMymbleandMy · 28/05/2009 00:26

It's Pogle's, CJ, but I'm certain it's Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman.

Still so stumped on yours!

Night again!

OP posts:
CJCregg · 28/05/2009 00:30

You're right, sorry Pogle ... must read that, I saw the tv adaptation and loved it. God, the list of new books to be read just gets longer ...

And I really must get to bed. A domani, as the opera singer might say!

MoominMymbleandMy · 28/05/2009 01:26

CJ, do you think it would have been better to have watched your step?

OP posts:
Queenoftheharpies · 28/05/2009 08:50

The parrot and the old buffer sounds like 'Love in the time of cholera' to me (up to the point where it defeated me).

Sorry if I'm going over old ground - this is a long thread and I should really be working...

CJCregg · 28/05/2009 08:55

Moomin, you are a genius. That damned blasted step got me, and now I'm wheelchair-bound and can't escape the wretched woman. People seem to think we're having some sort of relationship - splutter!

Sorry, Qoth, it wasn't Love in the Time of Cholera, although I'm glad I'm not the only one who struggled with that one

MoominMymbleandMy · 28/05/2009 11:54

Morning all!

Very nice of you to say so, CJ, but really I'm not. What I am is a sad obsessive who started looking for the Tintin books when she should have been on her way to bed. And, typically, I found a stack of them but NO Castafiore Emerald.
No wonder we could almost picture it!

...Still, he doesn't seem to mind the nickname. And the policeman doesn't seem overly intelligent. Perhaps I'm being too sensitive...

OP posts:
CJCregg · 28/05/2009 19:45

Grrr ... MN being slow, I just typed in a message and lost it. Bugger. Something about how brilliant you are, Moomin, obviously! And about needing more detailed clues to yours, as I'm nowhere near getting it.

And a new one: AIBU to hatch a plan to replace a broken window?

MoominMymbleandMy · 28/05/2009 20:19

Ha ha, I am so not, CJ!

Is this one of those wizard schemes which generally come unstuck?

...Actually, I think this policeman is downright stupid! That's why he's complaining about my DS and his friends...

OP posts:
CJCregg · 28/05/2009 21:39

Depends what you mean by wizard, Moomin.

MoominMymbleandMy · 28/05/2009 21:49

As in small boy's slang?

OP posts:
CJCregg · 28/05/2009 21:50

Yes, absolutely, then!

MoominMymbleandMy · 28/05/2009 22:09

Jennings' Little Hut?

...Though I do think perhaps my DS ought to do more to stop his dog nipping the policeman's ankles...

OP posts:
CJCregg · 28/05/2009 22:23

No, not Jennings but similar era. The broken window was only the start of things ...

I have NOT A CLUE about your poor DS. I'm sorry, I've tried, I really have but you have LOST me. Heeeeeeelp ...
