I can't get into the old thread so I think we filled it up! I hope everyone finds the new one.

So nice, shiny new thread, nice shiny new AIBU.

AIBU to be jealous of my DH's correspondence with a stranger?

Pogle, I feel I ought to know yours but I'm not getting anywhere.

Maria, this isn't ringing bells at all now. Doh!

MoominMymbleandMy · 28/05/2009 22:39

Hmm, are you heading for an encounter with an unpleasant but not very well-read witch?

...But the policeman's superior officer thinks very highly of the DS and his friends,...

OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 28/05/2009 22:46

...And the DS is very good at solving clues. Perhaps he could help!..

OP posts:
CJCregg · 28/05/2009 23:13

No witches, I'm afraid. This is a sensible, no-nonsense story about some jolly decent chaps who decide to help out a friend in trouble, and along the way manage to unmask some dastardly local criminals.

I have now sunk to the depths of utterly shameless googling and can't get any closer to yours. I'm sure it's staring me in the face, but I must admit defeat.

MoominMymbleandMy · 28/05/2009 23:19

...Or perhaps I should have said the DS and his friends are good at Finding Out things. There's five of them, and the dog, of course...

OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 28/05/2009 23:22

And I'm a bit stumped on broken window scenarios myself, so you're not alone!

OP posts:
CJCregg · 28/05/2009 23:38

Ok, Fatty, I've got there ... finally! I was thinking along the lines of E Blyton but obviously had far too sheltered a childhood, as I never read those ones. Secret Seven, Famous Five and the school books, but never strayed further. Sorry it took so long!

Now, the amazing thing about Operation Glazier (to pay for the broken window) is how it brought two formerly rival gangs together ...

MoominMymbleandMy · 29/05/2009 00:02

Oh poor CJ! I dabbled with the others but the Find Outers, especially Fatty, were far superior.

Now I need Fatty to help me with your one. It does sound faintly familiar but I can't place it...yet .

AIBU to want a murderer to escape justice?

OP posts:
CJCregg · 29/05/2009 00:05

I'm sure you'll get it before the night's out - you're like a bloodhound, once you've got hold of a scent you don't let go!

Shall go to bed myself and ponder your murderer - night!

MoominMymbleandMy · 29/05/2009 01:09

Ho hum, more of a poodle tonight, I'm afraid.

I am sure I have read this, or watched an adaptation of it at some time because it does seem irritatingly familiar.

But I can't place it! Bah!

OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 29/05/2009 09:23

Morning all!

Now, third time lucky, hopefully!

Was the window broken at school? And by someone who was too frightened to tell at home?

...I think I am BU. But I feel it was partly my fault...

OP posts:
CJCregg · 29/05/2009 09:41

Oh, you are scary ... Tell me where the school was and you can have a dodgy half crown!

Need clues, please.

MoominMymbleandMy · 29/05/2009 10:07

Fingers crossed...Otterbury?

...He wouldn't have committed the murder if I hadn't done something rather stupid. But it seemed a sensible idea at the time...

OP posts:
CJCregg · 29/05/2009 11:40

Take a bow, Moomin.

My DCs (for real!) are going nuts because I'm spending too much time on MN and it's the last day of half term and it's not FAIR ... so I shall return later!

MoominMymbleandMy · 29/05/2009 12:01

Yay!

FD and the D is waiting in the hall, by the way. I did have a minor heart attack when it disappeared. I thought it had been toddlered but the DD had taken it to compare the pictures!
Have fun with the Cregglings.

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 29/05/2009 19:37

Oh,you've done a lot since I last looked!

Hope you had a nice day with the DC's, CJ!

Back later....

CJCregg · 29/05/2009 23:16

Hi Pogle, good to see you! If you have boys, I can highly recommend The Otterbury Incident (although clearly I am a girl and loved it too, at the age of nineish).

I'm being incredibly slow at the moment, though. Still need clues in most pathetic fashion.

AIBU to love Beethoven with such a passion?

MoominMymbleandMy · 29/05/2009 23:28

Evening Pogle, CJ, undetected lurkers!

CJ, did you want a room with a view?

...I didn't even like the murderer but after he told me about himself I felt sorry for him, and as though I could have liked him a lot if things had been different...

OP posts:
CJCregg · 29/05/2009 23:36

Evening, Moomin!

No, I'm not in a Florence pensione but that was a very logical guess, and not a million miles from the right answer ...

And I am still a million miles away from guessing yours, sigh. Are you a Dickens character?

MoominMymbleandMy · 29/05/2009 23:59

Oh dear, I think I'm right out of Beethoven fanciers!

A bit more help please, CJ.

...You see, if I hadn't brought the knife, he wouldn't have had it...

OP posts:
llandb · 30/05/2009 00:37

What Pogle said! You have done a lot since I last looked, too!

CJ, are you looking for the score to or a recording of something obscure? (think am getting confused)

'Night, all!

MoominMymbleandMy · 30/05/2009 00:50

llandb! Yay! not too traumatised by excess of aunties, I hope!

Hmm, really need another clue CJ!

OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 30/05/2009 00:51

Oh and sorry CJ, I'm not a Dickens character.

OP posts:
llandb · 30/05/2009 00:58

Not quite off to bed yet... aunties gone; a coughing LO and huge delays in internationally-roaming text messages led to much less auntie-seeing than anticipated!

In fact, speaking of aunties (switches from real life to books...) AIBU to suspect that my aunt is a bit of a has-been and a trollop?

Really, truly 'night; apologies in advance for anticipated daytime silence tomorrow

MoominMymbleandMy · 30/05/2009 01:06

Oh blimey! Is your auntie Augusta, llandb?

Someone's will have to be, sometime.

OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 30/05/2009 01:22

Okay, couple of wild stabs before bedtime.

CJ, are you bad at playing the Moonlight Sonata, or just very, very bad?

...So I did wonder if I could hide him in the priest's hole for a bit...

Night all!
