I can't get into the old thread so I think we filled it up! I hope everyone finds the new one.

So nice, shiny new thread, nice shiny new AIBU.

AIBU to be jealous of my DH's correspondence with a stranger?

Pogle, I feel I ought to know yours but I'm not getting anywhere.

Maria, this isn't ringing bells at all now. Doh!

MoominMymbleandMy · 25/05/2009 23:33

Hmm, well, stunningly beautiful Pogle, you can't be Russian so I'm at a bit of a loss here.

Why is your DH's brother angry? Is your DH not bothered then?

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 25/05/2009 23:54

Think a bit further back,Moomin..

Yes,DH is bothered, but there is a political dimension too - they tell me DH's brother,DH and a group of others are coming to take me home..

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/05/2009 00:13

Are you a bit of a Trollope, perhaps, Pogle?

OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 26/05/2009 00:16

Oh, I am so thick! Is your's the face that launched a thousand ships (must have been very painful, that)?

OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 26/05/2009 00:46

...The rent was yummy, by the way...

Night all!

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 26/05/2009 07:51

Morning all!

Right again ,Moomin!
Will continue pondering your rent thingy(expect someone will have got before I get to computer again!)

pollywobbledoodle · 26/05/2009 09:58

run, run as fast as you can.....aah, you got me

ponders others

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/05/2009 14:21

Good afternoon all!

...I don't think I was BU to eat the rent. The others did too. And the landlady doesn't seem to mind...

OP posts:
CJCregg · 26/05/2009 16:00

Moomin, are you a goat?

I wanted to run around naked, it's all part of a bigger plan to be really, really BAD.

Can't believe I didn't twig Helen of Troy.

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/05/2009 17:10

Hi CJ, that's one promising contender disposed of then. Hmmm, are you Horrid (sounds like you have plans to be)?

...I'm not a goat. And it wasn't true I ate the rent because I had a cold. Wearing your vest and nothing else doesn't give you colds...

OP posts:
pollywobbledoodle · 26/05/2009 17:24

cj have you a little brother called albert, who only knows one word....fish?

pollywobbledoodle · 26/05/2009 17:28

moomin was the rent part of a barter system?

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/05/2009 17:38

...I'm not sure what the word barter means. We always pay the rent in cough drops. Doesn't everyone?...

OP posts:
CJCregg · 26/05/2009 17:39

I'm not Horrid, though I am being very, very naughty and will be for some time. So will my sister! (No brother, though, AFAIR ...)

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/05/2009 17:41

Oh, are you Little then, CJ?

OP posts:
pollywobbledoodle · 26/05/2009 17:50

ah, so you are little but bigger than your little sister

CJCregg · 26/05/2009 17:56

I'm not a Naughty Little Sister. My sister and I have both decided to be bad, although our father warned us not to do it at this particular time. But we fancy trying it anyway, and a witch has offered to help us out!

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/05/2009 19:41

This isn't ringing any bells yet, CJ, so any chance of another clue?

...And there are lots of things wrong with this house anyway. The bath is too small to fit in...

OP posts:
pollywobbledoodle · 26/05/2009 20:22

no idea about either....
slinks off...

CJCregg · 26/05/2009 20:23

Moomin, I'm sure I know this one! Are there five of you, and an unwanted guest on the roof?! Oh, please say yes - one of my favourite, favourite books.

CJCregg · 26/05/2009 20:45

We have to take our clothes off in order to turn into convincing kangaroos ...

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/05/2009 21:28

Oh my goodness, CJ! Was it by moonlight, and perhaps a bit windy?

I had forgotten all about that one. I wonder if it's still in print?!

And yes, you are absolutely spot-on about Five Dolls in a House. One of my favourites too, and now one of the DD's, together with all the sequels.

OP posts:
CJCregg · 26/05/2009 21:46

Sequels? Sequels? I only ever read the first one, and can't get hold of it now! I never know about sequels ...

Oh, I loved it so much. The monkey and Amanda ('I likes Amanda'), and bossy Vanessa, and the French PG (we had loads of them too, so I identified massively) ... my dad went away on a work trip and brought me back a toy monkey who sat on my doll's house!

Oh dear, must calm down. It was the cough drops that reminded me. See, those minute details strike again!

Yes, Moomin, you are quite right, of course. There is a wind on the moon, and goodness knows how long it will take for us to become good again.

Right, am off to wallow in nostalgia look for second hand copies of Five Dolls in a House.

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/05/2009 22:06

There were five books in all, CJ, but they were also published as two volumes, two books in the first, and three in the second volume, which can be confusing (and expensive!) when you're tracking them down.

In order of publication, they are:

Five Dolls in a House,
Five Dolls and the Monkey,
(together later published as Five Dolls in a House and Other Stories)
Five Dolls in the Snow,
Five Dolls and their Friends,
Five Dolls and the Duke,
(together later published as Five Dolls and their Friends, and Other Stories)

There were American editions too but they had a different illustrator and the Cecil Leslie drawings were just right.

I loved them every bit as much as you did and I was going to buy a miniature monkey I spotted in a toy shop years later just because it was so like the monkey. Only it turned out to be a Steiff monkey and a bit beyond my means!

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/05/2009 22:19

AIBU to worry about my DD? We are meant to be on a relaxing family holiday but she keeps wandering off to explore.
