Oh I loved that book! It was probably the first sci-fi I ever read.

CJCregg, my cousin has some extra large horses and then we'll hitch a lift in some sort of helicopter-like craft so we should be OK.

I think John Wyndham - especially the short stories - wrote some of the best sci-fi ever.

Have read it loads of times. I did go to my bookshelf to get some ideas for books that I hadn't seen done on these threads, but haven't actually had to flick through the book...just remembered them, honest! It is one of my faves too.
