Pieces of eight, TYV, pieces of eight!

CJCregg · 17/04/2009 21:35

I have boxes of books in the shed - the overflow library ...

Mrs F, I'm pretty sure it has been done. Why don't you ask Alice?

MoominMymbleandMy · 17/04/2009 21:35

Small child caterwauling...don't go away.

CJCregg · 17/04/2009 21:36

Sorry, jellycat.

jellycat · 17/04/2009 21:36

Oh that's good, because marriage to the stockman was definitely part of the plan

CJCregg · 17/04/2009 21:37

I'm scared now. My brain is turning to mush and MMJ is going to appear at any minute, I'm sure of it.

MrsFlittersnoop · 17/04/2009 21:39

I hide the pink cover stuff in the bedroom.
It's just about all my grey matter can cope with these days, so I've needed to dig deep into the recesses of what's left of my memory to keep up with this thread!

Take away for one sounds lovely!

theyoungvisiter · 17/04/2009 21:39

Did MMJ ever fess up about her French painter/house in Chelsea/Cornwall/Ibiza book? I have been grinding my teeth about it all afternoon!

I recently met a little girl who is a great playmate. But I know my Dad would not approve of the friendship at all. AIBU to think that there is nothing wrong with her having six toes?

BalloonSlayer · 17/04/2009 21:39

I am a successful businessman who needs a son and heir.

Unfortunately my only son died.

AIBU to totally disown my DD who never stops crying, and marry again?

DD is an utter drag, in tears from dawn till dusk.

She will not be left on the streets. An extremely dodgy pirate retired sea captain will most likely take her in.

CJCregg · 17/04/2009 21:43

jellycat, can you talk to her telepathically?

jellycat · 17/04/2009 21:43

don't worry CJCregg, mine will be easy...I am no great reader but this is fun!

jellycat · 17/04/2009 21:44

No, but I can to my cousin and little sister, amongst others.

CJCregg · 17/04/2009 21:45

You'd better run away fast, then.

MrsFlittersnoop · 17/04/2009 21:46

Jellycat, does she seem to know what you're thinking? Are you living in a post-apocalyptic society off the east coast of Canada?

This was the first "adult" book I ever read!

theyoungvisiter · 17/04/2009 21:46

Oh I loved that book! It was probably the first sci-fi I ever read.

OP posts:
jellycat · 17/04/2009 21:47

CJCregg, my cousin has some extra large horses and then we'll hitch a lift in some sort of helicopter-like craft so we should be OK.

CJCregg · 17/04/2009 21:47

I think John Wyndham - especially the short stories - wrote some of the best sci-fi ever.

MrsFlittersnoop · 17/04/2009 21:47

CJCregg, re. my earlier post - I'm confuzzled. Ask Alice?

CJCregg · 17/04/2009 21:48

jellycat, 'fess up - you've only just finished it, haven't you? Can't believe you can remember so much detail!

CJCregg · 17/04/2009 21:50

Mrs F, got my posters' names wrong, sorry. Was talking about jellycat's Nevil Shute moment.

jellycat · 17/04/2009 21:50

My brother recently got engaged and I'm feeling left out. AIBU to run off to Denmark with a businessman who gave me a lipstick?

theyoungvisiter · 17/04/2009 21:50

AIBU to be very cross with my nanny? She left the house with my baby twenty years ago and never came back - now it turns out that she deposited him at Victoria station left luggage in error!

OP posts:
jellycat · 17/04/2009 21:51

Have read it loads of times. I did go to my bookshelf to get some ideas for books that I hadn't seen done on these threads, but haven't actually had to flick through the book...just remembered them, honest! It is one of my faves too.

cory · 17/04/2009 21:52

Well to look at the bright side, he had at least been christened, so all is not lost, lady Bracknell.
