as you were ladies.

Goodness, TYV, you sound very Earnest about it all!

jellycat · 17/04/2009 21:53

BTW, I agree about Wyndham's short stories. Some of them are sooo chilling!

Must go and unpack my shopping which has just been delivered.

CJCregg · 17/04/2009 21:54

jellycat - Denmark? More clues, please.

salome64 · 17/04/2009 21:55

Seashells, Rosamund Pilcher, TYV.

theyoungvisiter · 17/04/2009 21:55

AIBU to be a bit pissed off with my husband? He's been gadding around the world for years, but lately he's been getting odder and odder. First it was problems with his sight - thinking things were all out of proportion. Now the latest is he no longer fancies me - instead he's moved out and is sleeping in the stable .

OP posts:
theyoungvisiter · 17/04/2009 21:56

oo blimey, that's a bit obscure! I've heard of it but never read it.

OP posts:
jellycat · 17/04/2009 21:56

When we returned from Denmark we went to his bungalow at Bourne End, where I lounged around in a tarty negligee eating chocolates.

theyoungvisiter · 17/04/2009 21:57

yes, need a clue I think Jellycat, I am a bit stumped too. Lipstick?!

OP posts:
cory · 17/04/2009 21:58

has he also got an inexplicable prejudice against a popular search engine, tyv?

I would be particularly cautious about starting any fires; the consequences could be peculiarly disgusting

theyoungvisiter · 17/04/2009 21:59

rofl cory! I was thinking "eh? what's google got to do with it?" before the penny dropped!

Yes, give the girl a gold star.

salome64 · 17/04/2009 22:00

AIBU in just wanting to be left alone to enjoy my quiet life? Sure, I don't get out much, but I like to take things easy. None of this rushing around from skating party to dachas that all my contemporaries think is so much fun. Me, my sofa, and a good book. Maybe the odd visitor. Its enough for me!

MoominMymbleandMy · 17/04/2009 22:01

Jellycat, do you have eyes of philanderer's blue and a photograhic memory?

salome64 · 17/04/2009 22:02

no! I'm lost re bourne end and denmark and google....

theyoungvisiter · 17/04/2009 22:02

what about balloonslayer's lachrymose DD?

OP posts:
cory · 17/04/2009 22:03

Oblomov, salome?

salome64 · 17/04/2009 22:03

No, I mean, eek, TYV, dont get yours. Denmark still extant?

theyoungvisiter · 17/04/2009 22:03

I'm lost with Bourne End too.

Google was me being silly, Cory was meaning Yahoo - Gulliver's Travels.

OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 17/04/2009 22:03

Photographic, that should be. And you're an amoral little liar with no pity for old ladies.

salome64 · 17/04/2009 22:04

Coreee! youse on fire girl!

jellycat · 17/04/2009 22:06

Moomin, yes I do, so I thought it would be cool to blame my lengthy absence from home on a couple of odd ladies who live in a big house in the country. But that country lawyer and his nephew sussed me out

MoominMymbleandMy · 17/04/2009 22:06

And, Jellycat, it was a very sad day when you saw The Franchise from the top of a bus before embarking on your Affair.

CJCregg · 17/04/2009 22:07

Got yahoo (too damn slow, though) - also stuck on Bourne End/Denmark/lipstick.

And the lachrymose DD and the pirate captain.

theyoungvisiter · 17/04/2009 22:10

ooo well DONE Moomin! I love that book but had completely forgotten about where the girl went!

Good argument for having net curtains in your windows, is the Franchise Affair

OP posts:
CJCregg · 17/04/2009 22:10

AIBU to think my recently dead mother could have told me she'd had an affair with a dishy photographer?

BalloonSlayer · 17/04/2009 22:10

OK not really a pirate. But you could give his namesake to a budgie.

And my intended has hair like snakes. As fallen women by this author are prone to have...
