as you were ladies.

OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 03/05/2009 21:38

Hi Maria, no, the DDs are insisting neither of them lit the candle and are very upset that one of their dolls was destroyed. Fortunately, it was the cheap celluloid one.

Not kitchen sink...Any chance of another clue please?

MoominMymbleandMy · 03/05/2009 21:39

Ooh! Were you very hungry, Maria!!!

llandb · 03/05/2009 21:47

'Ello, back from traipsin' about - not so fun yesterday (grr piped music in hardware stores), more fun today, but none of it so fun as being here

Moomin - oh, that jug-eared crooner. Google is so rubbish for giving useful results in a search for 'jug-eared crooner'.

...my, he does give HRH a run for his money, doesn't he?

Moomin, sorry about giving it away with the sledgehammer - I know that eventually you'd have whittled it down to which of the thousands of young ladies have failed to fancy a young man - should have strung it out but was distracted by need to go and listen to piped muzak In contrast, my lucky neighbours were off looking at an actual mill (though water mill in their case ) - the inspiration for the shepherdess!

Pogle, ya know what, I was given a kids' version of DQ to read when I wuz a little 'un and it was years and years before I realised that it was, um, merely a condensed version!

Maria, though others seem to have got it, I confess to Sunday-related puzzlement, and not just because it is...

Moomin, I think that despite the dire consequence, YANBU without the benefit of hindsight, as we can't be held personally responsible for the actions of aunties. Especially those who withhold vital information! At least you are now spared the Sunday walk.

As for the candle, ummm, clue please?

Meanwhile, AIBU to berate fashion designers who cater only to the petite and small of foot?

MoominMymbleandMy · 03/05/2009 21:58

Hi llandb, are you complaining on your daughters' behalf?

As for the candle episode, I keep telling my DDs to be grateful they didn't destroy the valuable antique toy which has been in the family for generations.

MariaCC · 03/05/2009 22:24

Oooh Moomin! Because just because that valuable antique is pretty, doesn't mean she isn't a complete BITCH!

PS I am SOOOO hungry I can't tell you.

MariaCC · 03/05/2009 22:29

And just so I'm sure I've got this right. Was the dearly departed celluloid doll rather fond of her feather duster?

MoominMymbleandMy · 03/05/2009 22:36

Oh Maria, I thought you'd be feeling better after the light salad!

And you are spot on, though I meant The Dolls' House rather than Marchpane, who has also been in the family for generations but is now off to a museum at the DDs' insistence. `

llandb · 03/05/2009 22:45

My, Moomin', you like your Dolls' Houses

I'm complaining on my own behalf. Honestly, why should that jumped-up little minx get all the attention and opportunity just because she's a looker with dainty feet?

MoominMymbleandMy · 03/05/2009 22:51

llandb, might this minx have sneaked off to a jamboree when she was meant to be getting on with the housework?

I do like my dolls' houses but I think I'm running out of them as you did the posh one!

MariaCC · 03/05/2009 22:57

Marchpane - right up there with Alexis Carrington and Cruella de Ville.

Light salad much better than cupcake, watermelon, sausage, swiss cheese etc etc. Right. Off to bed. I have a feeling I'm going to be a bit of a looker come morning.

llandb · 03/05/2009 22:58

Moomin', you are absolutely right. But I shouldn't let it bother me as I can step on that sister of mine any day. And anyway that fashion designer was a bit of a fairy and her celebrity vehicle turned out to be a bit of a squash.

A bit puzzled about your dolls' house escape but will watch and wait for someone to click

llandb · 03/05/2009 23:00

Or maybe just read the thread more carefully

Off for a night of a small person's tooth-growing (IRL).... 'night!

MoominMymbleandMy · 03/05/2009 23:10

Isn't she, Maria! I read it when I was so young I expected all books to have happy endings, and howled my head off.

I think you'll be a stunner tomorrow!

llandb, she's an awful drip anyway. Fancy marrying a man who was too thick to get your name and address when he had an entire evening to do so.

Good luck with the teeth! Sweet dreams.

MoominMymbleandMy · 04/05/2009 12:24

Good afternoon!

WIBU to smash up the car, the stereo, the cooker, the fridge, the telephone, the washing machine and the toaster when I got up this morning?

llandb · 04/05/2009 13:42

'Arvo!

I do hope you recycle the materials responsibly.
Clue(s) please?

MoominMymbleandMy · 04/05/2009 13:55

Nooo! I won't be going near them. I can sense something Satanic about them!

I think my neighbours may be doing the same.

MoominMymbleandMy · 05/05/2009 11:11

The tumble dryer bit the dust too...but I've just discovered I can change the weather! That's going to come in very handy for getting the washing dry now.

llandb · 05/05/2009 13:50

Cor, I'm sure I've vaguely heard of this... could you send some sun my way?

MoominMymbleandMy · 05/05/2009 21:21

And we were a 1970s TV series too...but I couldn't watch it because I'd smashed up the telly...

FairyTaleEnding · 05/05/2009 22:03

Did you have the same title as a David Bowie song?

MoominMymbleandMy · 05/05/2009 22:51

Yes, Fairytale, the TV series did! The books (there were three) had completely different titles.

FairyTaleEnding · 05/05/2009 23:18

I remember them. Bloody loved the tv series, shame shame I never finished the books.

daddycooler · 05/05/2009 23:23

deeeee ham is no longer here

MoominMymbleandMy · 05/05/2009 23:30

Fairytale, I think I only saw bits of the TV series. This was back in the days when there was just one TV and your parents got to choose something dull and worthy to watch.
But I loved the books.

Daddycooler, bit more detail, possibly, please?!

FairyTaleEnding · 05/05/2009 23:35

I did something unforgivable (I forget what now, back in the mists of time) and my mum banned the tv for a week - 'twas the last episode, and I had to beg to be allowed to watch just that one programme, as life would have ended if I hadn't seen it. No videos then! Thankfully she took pity on me and I got to see it.

As you can see, the scars are still there.
