Panic buying next week?

Ok very random but I work in retail and we’ve been told to expect panic buying/shortages on fuel next week due to something big happening. Am I really naive as when I was told this I have no idea what it is about? I do read the news in the morning but I haven’t seen anything that would relate to this?

We get emails like this as well OP. For all the sarcastic fuckers no it’s not MI5 emailing Tesco it’s their head office which I would have thought was pretty obvious. We used to get similar emails during covid to prepare stores for any announcements that would impact trading.

It will definitely be related to Trump possibly banning the export of diesel from the US. If he does this then diesel prices around the world will go berserk. But he looks fairly unlikely to do it as it would also have a negative impact on the US economy, so we should be fine

On a more serious note, I did read somewhere that the government are going to do a push on the messaging re what to have at home. Realistically, it‘s pay day and autumn storms are anticipated to be worse due to El Niño.

At least if there’s a cyber attack we won’t be able to read any more of these threads.

its when i read things like this, that even though i believe its scaremongering, i know all the panic buyers are out in force, i do worry what if i cant feed my children soon because there is nothing left. Couldnt care less about loo roll, or fags, but nutritious food to keep my family alive, i do worry the shelves will be cleared out one of these days. Im already seeing massive shortages, however the scaremongering isnt helping anyone here.
