I agree. A lot of people employed by public sector has got no idea who actually pays their wages. They're in that lovely bubble with unlimited fully paid sick leave, final salary pensions, etc.
They have no idea how difficult it is to make money as a business. Real money - money that pays for everyone.

I'm on benefits due to having a disabled child who will likely need PIP or whatever it may be one day when his DLA comes to an end. I would never vote for cuts to it to disadvantage my own child....obviously.

I can't imagine many parents would. Most people are going to vote to benefit themselves and/or their families. That isn't surprising at all.

A reminder that the top 1% of taxpayers pay 29% of the total income tax revenue, and the top 10% pays 60%.

Labour would do well to remember that.

DLA claims have been migrated onto PIP - a process that’s ongoing and has been throughout the lifetime of PIP. It’s a distortion because PIP migrants are represented as new claims even though there is no new cost. I get what you’re saying though and I think what most people forget is that PIP was introduced to save money. Yet the coalition government in their wisdom opted to open up the benefit to mental health claims for the first time ever. On what planet did they think that wasn’t going to decimate any projected savings.

Forgot to say that this is an amazing business model, not seen anywhere before these days - big business gets to use these low skilled workers, so it all positives for the big business. Who picks up the negatives? Correct - the socialist state who houses, treats them, educates their children - social housing, schools, the NHS. I mean, at no time in history big businesses operated like that - historically they were forced to adjust wages to make it feasible for the workers to work for them - i.e. be able to afford private housing, private medicine, private schooling. So big business operates without social costs associated with these workers - social costs are picked up by the state.
