One of my old bosses used to talk about the “embuggerment factor” for what we would nowadays call a challenge. I prefer his term, to be honest.

My late FIL was a country fella and a reserve constable - he said 'and so forth like that there " in every other sentence/ an odd amalgam of styles

Though I did read somewhere recently that it has been misused that way so often that it is now acceptable; as is myriad of!

I had a similar discussion with a colleague about school SPORTS DAY. I thought it did not need an apostrophe but she sent the letter to parents headed SPORT'S DAY which really makes no sense. At least Pedants' Corner makes sense.

We used to have a typing department where we sent hand-written letters to be typed. One of my colleagues had terrible handwriting. He sent a letter to be typed that was supposed to say “I refer to the above mentioned pension scheme”. It came back as “I refer to Theodore mentioned pension scheme”! He didn’t notice and sent it out 😂

Decades ago I remember the typing pool being an utter hysterics when the partner of one of the secretaries had dictated “we will bend over backwards to make an opening”.

I like aforementioned and notwithstanding. There are a few others I use but I can’t remember them offhand. ‘At present’ or ‘at the present time’ were favourites of my mum.
