To think that Labour’s/Andy Burnham’s tariffs on Jewish Settlers and their statement on Palestine is a well timed publicity stunt to divert attention from their complete lack of inaction regarding illegal migrants arriving by boat.

I don’t meant to be cynical but I think Labour have done this to carry favour with those who want to ditch Labour for the Green Party. We all know Labour isn’t run by its leader, instead by their back benchers!

What the Settlers are doing on the West Bank is horrific, however Labour were not being so vocal a few weeks ago when the rest of the world was. It feels a ‘well-timed’ publicity stunt to take away attention from their complete inaction about the amount of illegal immigrants arriving in this country. I was appalled by the protests over the weekend. And as a woman with a daughter, these thugs do not protest in my name. However, the government MUST address the fact that we have thousands of undocumented male immigrants coming into the UK free to go wherever they want. Andy Burnham is happy to house them in their thousands wherever he sees fit and I have not heard him OR his government talk about women’s safety once. Burnham can make as many cosy ‘I’m just a man who goes to Greggs and likes a pint.’ Videos as he wants but until he acknowledges how undocumented men pose a great risk to women’s safety, I won’t be supporting him or his party.

Please do not come up with facts and stats about white British males, I am acutely aware of the violence they also inflict against women and equally appalled by the Government’s inaction over this. But I find it horrific that if you have no documents and the government have no idea who you are you’re free to roam. This should not be allowed.

I feel so ignored as a woman in the UK our safety and wellbeing is way down the governments’ long list of priorities. I’m sick of the back benchers and those swaying to the far left or far right being given so much air time, whilst those of us in the middle are ignored day in and day out I voted for Labour in the last election but never again!

If it's a crass tactic because of the by-election, why do you think 11 other countries took the same step yesterday?

Clearly all concerned about the local by election coming up!

You could equally argue why did this week’s German election deliver an enormous win for the AfD?

Either way if you are defending Labour as not being anti semitic in part due to a chunk of their voter base then I’m afraid you are severely deluded.

YourChicShark · 09/09/2026 08:01

To say that there has been a "complete lack of inaction regarding illegal migrants arriving by boat" is factually wrong.

https://migrationobservatory.ox.ac.uk/resources/commentaries/qa-why-have-small-boat-arrivals-declined-in-2026/

How much have small boat arrivals declined in 2026?
Small boat arrivals over the English Channel declined significantly in the first seven months of 2026. Around 14,200 people had arrived by small boat by the end of July this year. That was 44% fewer than in 2025, and 16% fewer than in 2024. A total of 30,200 people arrived by small boat in the year ending 31 July 2026. That was slightly less than when Labour took office – arrivals stood at 31,500 in the year ending 5 July 2024.

Government policies are having a significant impact, more than half of the attempted boat crossings for the week ending 30 August 2026 were prevented. See here https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/migrants-detected-crossing-the-english-channel-in-small-boats/weekly-summary-of-small-boat-arrivals-and-preventions

It is nothing to do with small boats. It is to do with votes. There is a London by-election coming up (Keir Starmer's seat)in a a few weeks. The Greens are hoping to win it from Labour. Zac Polanski is likely to be their candidate so they are in with a good chance. A green win would be embarrassing for Labour and wonder-boy Burnham. Labour are likely to select a Muslim candidate so both parties are fighting to win over the pro Palestinian vote.

@Zonderyes I do realise small boats if 100% a far right issue and I would also say Palestine is a far left issue! Believe it or not I’m not the devil incarnate for my opinion. I’ve very down the middle with my politics but violence against women is something I do care about and I do not like the fact this government aren’t taking women’s concerns seriously! That doesn’t mean I am a racist or horrible human being or part of the Daily Mail brigade. But I also totally appreciate your point of view and the points you raise! Probably shouldn’t post on Mumsnet until I’ve had a coffee! Haha x

What on earth do you mean that Palestine is a far left issue? Please explain. I can wait til you've had your coffee if that helps.

Calling the significant and complex issues re Palestine a “pet project” is really fucking offensive.

And bleating on about protecting women and girls is so pathetically transparent.

Honestly this is the bit that makes me FURIOUS about the “stop the boats” brigade. I’d be prepared to bet a fair amount that a significant about of the men in balaclavas have got previous for abusing women and girls. They don’t give a STUFF about women’s safety. It’s a wafer thin veneer of camouflage for their real issue. Not a single one has ever been on a protest specifically for women’s rights before the far right jumped on this particular bandwagon. I’d bet my mortgage on that!

And I for one see right through it.

I know you know this but for the bellends at the back. It’s because there virtue signalling anti semites .

Chap at work wanted to explain to me the benefits of undocumented migration by starting with the Israelites you couldn’t make it up.

They are so fucking thick yet the blue haired socialist worker crew many of whom are on MN and frighteningly infect our public services can’t see their own incredible hypocrisy.

According to Google, between 0.1-0.3% of the UK population over the age of 18 has blue hair. Of that tiny percent, some won't vote, have any interest in politics or be a "leftist" which gives you an even smaller percentage and then out of that smaller percentage, most will be working for the private sector over the public sector because around 4/5ths of the UK population is employed in the private sector.

So these "blue haired socialist worker crews that frighteningly infect our public services" that you are referring to make up probably around 0-0.1% of the population. Quite the infection! Considering just over 50% of the population didn't vote for a right-leaning party, what makes you think that stupid trope of "blue-haired public service workers" is representative to most of the population that may lean left?

@NorthernExpatsomeone said he was ‘passionate’ about Palestine. He’s only Passionate about it because he’s foreign secretary. And yes I really dislike him - it started when I saw him eating a bacon sandwich!

I don’t know if you know much about Ed Miliband, but he is from a family of Holocaust survivors, and his Grandmother found sanctuary in Israel after the war. So, to suggest he only cares about what is happening in Israel and only wants to keep alive the hope of a two state solution because he’s foreign secretary shows an enormous lack of empathy.

I thought his speech showed the most moral courage I have heard from a British politician in a long time. It is right we stand up for British values around the world. We can’t talk about wanting a two state solution while standby idly by as any hope of it is destroyed by these illegal settlements.

The small boats crossings have nothing to do with it. A competent government can and should do more than one thing at once.

Your point being?

There is undoubtedly a rise in support for far right and neofascist parties across Europe and beyond, just as there was in the 1930s before the second world war. The causes of this, and the devastating consequences, are well documented and we should certainly seek to learn from them.

However, I'm not sure what this has to do with the question that I asked about why 11 other countries would declare sanctions to support UK Labour in a London by election?

Is this just whataboutery because you're unable to answer my question or do you actually have a valid point that you're trying to make?

Please do elaborate. I would be grateful if you could respond to my actual point rather than going off on any tangents that are not really relevant.

What a fantastic point!!!!!

That's definitely what's happening!!!

France, Canada, Denmark, Spain, Finland, Ireland, Iceland, Norway, Poland, Portugal and Sweden are collectively holding their breath!

The world's eyes are upon Holborn and St Pancras!

Will Labour CLING ON to their 167 seat majority, or will we have the CHAOS of 166????

I find it so sad that so many people are so deliberately cynical about this.

Suggesting this about the “Muslim vote” is extraordinary simplistic - and dangerous - because it pits British Muslim and British Jewish communities against each other, when in fact many people on both sides are desperate to keep the hope of a two state solution alive.

You edited your post to add this while I was responding. I have no idea what you're talking about.

I'm not "defending" Labour against anything and I don't actually know what "chunk" of their voters base you are referring to. I merely asked you to articulate why you think the UK government's actions are antisemitic. Are you going to answer that question or are you just going to try to deflect from it by describing me as "deluded" for unknown reasons?

I feel like the boat freaks have gone into overdrive since Nigel was caught on camera, attempting to illegally facilitate foreign interference in our elections.

He belongs with in prison with his treasonous mate, Nathan Gill.

Dirty fucks.
