AIBU to want to express support for women who were assaulted at a political conference?

To want to send out support to the two women visibly assaulted at a political conference.
I am concerned about the other protesters too and actually anyone who was hurt. But having to listen to jeering from the podium plus the crowd chanting in live TV at the same time must have been so traumatic and the publicity will die down and coverage move on but that can't be easy. Just want to send love and support.

Heckling is not a crime and every party conference has at least one heckler. No other party apart from reform has seen hecklers attacked and the leadership agreed with the attack.

Reform supporters will use any excuse to hit a women. Wrong politics, wrong colour, wrong look.

In fact @Shakeoffyourchains I am getting tired of your accusations. You don't ever reply to my posts, you make comments about how many times I post. Are you a mod? Lay off and attack the post not the poster.

First, I said joined / name changed as I don't know if you joined the forum in May or changed username in May.

Second, I've not attacked you once. I've merely stated factual information about your posting habits.

Third, from what I can see any attempt to challenge your posts or ask questions of you is met with deflection, whataboutery, silence or accusations of personal attacks.

Lastly, and to borrow from you, who are you to tell me how, where and when I can post?

These men are Reform. The wish they will ' hold themselves to a higher standard' is a little naive though isn't it, seeing that the leadership seems broadly in support of the actions.

My posting habits are totally irrelevant. I type quickly. I learned to touch type aged 18. I think quickly so I respond immediately. I'm semi retired, spend quite a bit of time at home so have time on my hands. I post on many threads, relationships, weight loss, and offer my opinion/device. You don't own the forum but you seem to think you've got a right to try and embarrass me into suggesting I'm up to something. Do you do the same to other posters. Once and for all, I am NOT am a troll, a Reform party member, Katie Hopkins! You can try and be clever and throw something out there and then deny it. I'm not going to be bullied by a group of posters into stopping posting because my views are unpopular.

I am concerned in general for those ' caught up.'. Many people probably didn't join to be complicit in this kind of thing. They perpetuate the myth of the strong woman but there's no dealing with that.

Sometimes your posts come across as combative/disruptive and even, dare I say it, like heckling? You have every right to do this of course. There is just a strong irony that this thread is about whether or not it is acceptable to hit a woman with a stick and grab her by the throat for being combative and heckling. And here you are being quite combative/repetitive on the thread. Not attacking you. I just think it's ironic.

Strong undercurrents of satisfaction at gobby women being "put in their place" as well. Although probably the same might have happened to a man. I'm not sure though whether if it had been a big burly (but peaceful) bloke the pensioners would have gone for them with the same enthusiasm. I guess it's a hypothetical.

I went to school in the 60s and I was not taught to put spaces in punctuation like that, neither do I support Reform.

So, cynically, from the protestors’ point of view, job done? True Reform colours shown. You’d think they’d be a bit more on the case. They really are in the “not very good club”.

Some of my older staff, in their late 60s do this and that was the reason they gave - that they were taught to do it at school. Maybe it’s different in different areas? And the age profile of Reform voters is that they are older. Younger people tend to be less right wing. This doesn’t mean that everyone who is older votes Reform, just that it’s proportionally more likely than if someone is younger.

I could point out many posters who do the exact thing you've just highlighted but I won't because I don't believe in targeting posters.

It's about intimidation. Intimidate women by physically assaulting them so they won't disagree with reform in public again. And to try to scare anyone else who might have been thinking about publicly disagreeing or heckling.

And none of them deserve to be attacked either. Neither did the woman and I am glad you agree with that. That fact sort of renders all the other points about her character/intelligence levels irrelevant though doesn't it?

Agree about the thugs element. TBF I don't think one can.judge any party by how a minority of their members behave. I am sure there are people in The Green party, Labour the Conservatives etc who have done bad things. What really shocked me was Farage's reaction to it in the moment (chuckling away on stage) and then his and others reaction in the aftermath. I think I have different political views to you but TBF if he had, as the woman was grabbed, asked them to lay of or something he would have.cone across as gracious/a bit dignified. There are people I disagree politically with whose character I like (Widdicombe, to an extent Badenoch).

They were impinging on Nigel’s right to free speech and had no business in doing so. They took the risk and should accept the consequences. The courts, the political ombudsmen and protestors have no right to challenge Nigel, only the wise and good people of Clacton should decide whether Nigel was guilty or not.

I have no say in whether they were guilty or not, only the people of Clacton should decide whether a woman is beaten for saying something that a man disagrees with. Are you questioning democracy?
