Netflix prices are going up again. The last price rise wasn't so long ago.

I'm already on the basic netflix package. As I am with Disney. I get Prime free, as i use Amazon delivery lots. Nothing else.

I realise £2pm increase isn't that much, but £7.99pm sounds and feels a lot more than the £4.99 i was paying 2 years ago for the same service.

I also realise i don't have to subscribe, but there is the occasional great series that is unmissible.

I miss the days of 4 channels. I miss the days where subscription services only charged 1 fee for an ad free service.

I understand why so many of my friends and family have got dodgy boxes.

Their subscriber base is growing. The price increase means growth will slow, but they'll be more profitable and have more money to invest in new content.

Apple just announced that Apple TV is rising from $12.99 in the U.S. to $14.99, so I'm going to cancel after the new season of Ted Lasso ends next month.

Apple content is very slow to materialise and if I didn’t get it free I wouldn’t subscribe.

When is it going up ? I was thinking of cancelling anyway . This will put it over the edge I think . We use prime more . Anything I should watch before I cancel ( assuming I have a few days )

I hardly ever use it but we have all the dc on it so will keep it indefinitely, happy to pay for whatever it costs tbh, ad free is the only way I want to watch tv tbh so happy to pay for streaming services.
if I want to watch something on telly I record it and fast forward through the adverts!

They are gaining subscribers every year, despite annual price increases, so your argument doesn't stack up.

The other way Netflix is making more money is by cracking down on password sharing. They can tell when people in different locations are logged into the same account.

There is no way they would be doing it without considerable excellent pricing data. They’ll end up better off even if they do lower the overall subscribers- because they pay more.

When you compare the monthly premium to other providers of similar services, I think it’s pretty cheap. I love Netflix. There’s always something to watch on there, and new stuff introduced most days.

We cancelled Netflix intending to come back if they sent us an offer. But they never did so we haven't.

But most content is on there permanently. We will switch it back when we want it for a month or two, and off when we get bored again. You don't have to have it every month of the year.

I think the opposite. Quit netflix a few months ago and don't miss it. Nearly eerything I want to watch is on BBC or Disney.

i’m cancelling, it’s a joke that not only is there adverts you also pay for it.

I swap between subscriptions as often there are only 1 or 2 things I want to watch

For me the BBC is still the best.

To be fair a couple of quid a week doesn't sound that insane for someone you use every day

@Globulesim with you I cancelled sky as so expensive and seems to mostly watch Netflix. Now without ads mine is going up to £20.99!!! Will cancel and may as well get sky again which with basic Netflix and ads plus other things such as Disney included is cheaper?

How so? Its half the price of a TV licence you need to watch BBC content and compable in price to the other streaming platforms eg Disney, Paramount, Now TV etc.

I started watching a series on netflix this evening. About 10mins in, i realised it was recycled bbc content that i had already seen. Really not worth it.

I haven't used Netflix in ages - everything I liked on there is now on HBOMax for less money.

Oh I didn’t realise it was going up we pay the cheapest one as a just so we have it but I don’t think anyone’s watched it for a while so when it goes up I will cancel it.

I rotate. It's not the sort of thing you need to subscribe to all the time. I switch it on for a few months, work my way through what I want to see, and then cancel again for 6 months or so. Same with NowTV.

Disney is the only thing I keep year round, and Prime because of the deliveries
