Bought clothes from Vinted the they stink

I bought come toddler joggers for 2-3 years old and they smell of a sweat bo smell. Maybe I’m being overly fussy but I feel like all Vinted clothes smell like this - adults generally.

i have a bag of clothes I’ve bought from other sellers and they seem ok.

i have done an oxy soak for an hour and two washes. can’t smell it fresh out the washing machine but maybe will when dry/worn.

If the clothes smell, put it in a bucket of water with baking soda and leave it for a day. Rinse. If it still smells, do the same with water and vinegar. Then washing maschine.

Why would 2 year old clothes smell?

Not at all unreasonable. If I buy something ‘very good’ (I now only buy new) it inevitably stinks. I bought a bra that absolutely reeked, had to wash it four times to get rid of the BO smell.

Luckily the brand new with tags items are still mega cheap so I now only buy them. I didn’t even complain, bra was a fiver. Still worth it, though people are right mingers.

If I sell something I wash, dry and iron it 😂

You had already said that. From what I am reading Oxy clean is a stain remover.

It's only happened to me once - bought a 'very good' dress that stank of BO. It was dry clean only but I washed it in washing machine and thankfully it was ok and smelt fresh afterwards. I was worried the smell might come back when I wore it but it didn't. But the whole experience put me off buying second hand and was stressful as I'd bought dress to wear to an imminent wedding and didn't have chance to buy anything else. Like a pp I now generally only buy 'new with tags' items.

Probably because they’ve been left unwashed for a long time after being worn. Complain to the seller and try get your money back.

Do toddlers stink? I thought they didn’t

Some of my toddlers old clothes smelt after I put them in a vacuum bag and they weren't properly dry. Had to rewash everything on a long wash and leave them out in the sun before I could use them again. Luckily they hadn't gone mouldy, it just an unpleasant musty smell. I wonder if you've bought something that has been in storage but not stored properly?

They could be hand-me-downs which are 10, 15, 20yrs old and been stored in a loft or damp shed?

Nah it’s everything I buy from Vinted. Well the ladies used clothes all smelt like that. I assumed I was just had a sensitive nose to peoples smells etc.

Oh thats not good then. I know someone with a theory that as we are all encouraged to wash at 20c / 30c now, it doesnt actually get clothes clean anymore. Maybe they've got a point!

You’re probably just smelling the smell of other people’s houses. It sticks to things. Plus lots of lazy people don’t wash the things they sell before sending.

Put it on a hot wash and it’ll come clean! It’s not brain surgery!

White vinegar does a great job of breaking down the smell

I buy loads from Vinted and stick everything straight in the washing machine whether it stinks or not.
