Bought clothes from Vinted the they stink

I bought come toddler joggers for 2-3 years old and they smell of a sweat bo smell. Maybe I’m being overly fussy but I feel like all Vinted clothes smell like this - adults generally.

i have a bag of clothes I’ve bought from other sellers and they seem ok.

i have done an oxy soak for an hour and two washes. can’t smell it fresh out the washing machine but maybe will when dry/worn.

They absolutely do, I can see them steaming clothes with a steamer in the back room of my closest charity shop

Any clothes I buy from vinted I wash. Absolutely most have been fine and don't smell but some have been a bit musty so have been stored.

Same solution, wash, as you would with any second clothes.

Gosh I must tell my sister that she imagined the 4 hours she spent today, like most Saturdays, steam cleaning clothes as a volunteer with a charity clothes shop.

I got put off vinted as too many people think it’s acceptable to send stuff in old food packaging, im not against boxes but putting something in a crisp packet or bread bag just takes the piss, I don’t use it anymore (but I don’t like second hand clothes in general)

I had something posted to me in a cat food box. It was New with tags and bought as a gift, but the smell meant that I could not use it as such.

My biggest bug bear is advertising as ‘New without Tags’ , then described as ‘worn a few times’- it’s not new then. If just had a NWOT, perfect condition item arrive which is definitely worn & washed several times and has pulls in it.

I can 100% guarantee charity shops steam clothes to remove creases, it's quicker than an iron, I worked in a charity shop. Its not a steam cleaner in any form

Why would they do that? Steaming is quicker and easier than ironing and a steamer costs the same an an iron.

They do! At work we all took it in turns to volunteer at a local one (we got given a few hours off work to do this), and everything was steam cleaned.

They do steam clean the clothes. They also clean jewellery before selling. A relative volunteers for one.

If the clothes you bought smell then press the 'report an issue' option on vinted.
Or only buy new with tag stuff.

I have been in a charity shop and the man a volunteer was steaming things on the racks. It was quiet as it was a rainy day and he told me it was a good way of getting warm due to the steam. At the time I didn't know a thing about steamers so we talked about them and I went and got one from Argos. I wash things from Vinted put them on the line and any aromas just seem to leave. I know lots of sellers use febreeze but I prefer my way.

Some people are dirt bags. I wouldn’t dream of sending something that stunk. I’d have complained to Vinted. They shouldn’t get away with being disgusting

At the risk of being told to fuck off by OP, just also suggesting to hang out on the line in the fresh air for a day as that can sometimes help if the smell won’t go away after washing.

I see you haven't acknowledged that you're wrong about the steam cleaning in charity shops either, despite about 10 people confirming they do this.

Absolutely this! Lower temps just don’t get smells out! I wash everything on a 40 wash with bio washing powder, laundry sanitiser and some oxi gel stuff under the arm pits!

OP it sounds like you have a very sensitive nose (that’s not a criticism just an observation) and some bad experiences with Vinted so if it was me I’d stop purchasing items on there unless it’s new with tags.

This is why I do t buy anything from vinted. Everything I have bought either stinks or has big sweat marks on. Its disgusting.

I must be unusually lucky because 90% of mine and my daughter's clothes are from Vinted and I've never had anything smell of anything except detergent. I've only had one item I've had to get a refund on, a torn lining in a coat. If I sell anything I wash it first.

Ariel cold wash gel is fantastic,discovered it during lockdown as it was the only thing available and never gone home back. Well worth the money,gets everything clean and smelling lovely.

What is the brand please.
