Bought clothes from Vinted the they stink

I bought come toddler joggers for 2-3 years old and they smell of a sweat bo smell. Maybe I’m being overly fussy but I feel like all Vinted clothes smell like this - adults generally.

i have a bag of clothes I’ve bought from other sellers and they seem ok.

i have done an oxy soak for an hour and two washes. can’t smell it fresh out the washing machine but maybe will when dry/worn.

Actually this reminds me of when my toddler put a bottle of garlic sauce in the washing machine and I didn't notice. The only way I could get the smell out were those Ariel tablets that Peter crouch advertises

I can’t stand the weird overly strong fabric scents I get on some Vinted clothes. Better than BO or musty I suppose (I’ve been lucky and not had that), and at least they’ve all been laundered 😁 but straight into wash at 50deg C here. Although, I had a T-shirt the other week which smelled amazing- so I discovered a lovely patchouli laundry detergent via that seller 🙌

I buy lots of clothes from vinted, only had a couple of smelly items, not BO but like a damp,mouldy musty , stored somewhere smell,but the clothes looked hardly worn,they were only stuff to wear for work,so I soaked for 24 hrs in cold water and white vinegar,then washed on 40 deg with plenty liquid and stain powder for coloureds, hung out in sunny breeze, vola good as new no smell, even when I ironed them not smell came through the steam. I don't worry too much about it as its easy solved, plus I only pay a £1 maybe £2 for work stuff.
My work colleague bought 2 brand new dry robes off vinted,they stunk of cigarettes, she my vinegar etc method and they came out perfect

You’re being a bit hostile, OP. Washing instructions aren’t the laws of the Medes and Persians. There have been plenty of dry clean only or handwash items I’ve machine-washed that have been fine. Often it isn’t an exact science.
I washed all of my boys’ clothes at 60 and if there was shrinking it was very minimal. And vastly preferable to them smelling.
However good the detergent at 40 deg, my experience is that it doesn’t get out body oils and sweat. Even if the smell more or less goes, you can still sort of feel it in the fabric! I have the nose of a bloodhound though and can always smell something that isn’t quite fresh.

I must have been really lucky so far as everything I’ve bought on Vinted has smelt of fabric softener. I still put everything through the wash first though.

I am new to vinted, but I've just bought quite a few things for DS all were in excellent condition and smelled clean/of laundry detergent. Of course I will still wash them all before ds wears them. It was all great value but none of it was super cheap, I saw some bits for 50p and I think sometimes you really get what you pay for

I once got a shirt for my other half from vinted ,it had this odd smell and the cat was obsessed hahaha. He was going nuts and my other half was like thats cigarettes lol

Yes it was things like 3 t-shirts for 1.50

Maybe try another route for shopping like Primark
Brand new cheap as chips
Or charity shops. Everything steamed clean and they dispose of unsellable items usually.

Neither can I, gives me headaches and two of our children have mild eczema and youngest is a toddler. I do a longer cycle for clothes with overly strong scents especially when the fabric feels like it has a coating on it.

Too many people use either way too much detergent and/or fabric softener and the latter isn’t necessary and can actually ruin certain clothes over time.

I use fragrance free during the washing cycle and add wool balls with a few drops of essential oil in the dry cycle. Clothes smell nice without being overbearing.

Could be the plastic postal bag that’s made it smell

My son volunteers in one and they steam everything. It’s his favourite job.
