To wonder if Reform voters actually realise that Farage and his cronies are responsible for the increase in migrant boats reaching the UK

Meadowlands · 04/09/2026 23:15

Because Brexit , for which Farage was a leading advocate, put a stop to the UK being able to send the boats back. Before Brexit there was a returns agreement in place.
So be careful if you think he actually has a clue what he is doing.

Of course they don't OP, anyone who votes Reform is hard of thinking skills. They're not even a proper party, they're a populist protest movement. They could no more govern this country than I could.

Another poster with no rational argument just hurling abuse, sad.

They are like the trans activists were and still are. The ones who are the most predjudiced against normal people have written scripts that bear no relation to reality, but they all learn them and roll them out on repeat. It's unions, leftist parties, academics, public sector workers, they all have the exact same bizzare claims like "is hard of thinking skills". What does that actually mean?

Jealous much ?
No arguments just insults, a poor show.

Jealous of what? 😵‍💫

I haven't parroted anyone's nonsense, I'm simply mocking your string of clichés about people you despise and what you want to pretend they think, as if you either know or care. You don't. You despise them at the same time as claiming to know what they "wish for".

Edited

You're barking up the wrong tree with me I'm afraid. I don't despise people on benefits or low incomes. I'm a working class woman from a deprived area who's spent most of my career in roles supporting people others look down on. I don't mock ordinary people, so clearly you and I differ on that. The only people I despise are the corrupt chancers getting rich from exploitating us.
So save your feeble attempts to portray me as sneering at the ordinary folk in order to justify your support for a party who will bring us nothing but harm to feather their own nests. Its tiresome, its old and it doesn't wash anymore I'm afraid.

👏 ✌️ hear hear. They accuse others of lacking critical thinking skills whilst applying that exact approach. There's the die hard omnicause lot, then there's the middle class white lefty, who rushes to take offence at the bare mention of BAME related issues. They do offered more hindrance than help. Normally found working in schools/universities/hospitals and the civil service. Always but always represented by a Union.

dustabsorber · 05/09/2026 11:41

Reform say they will increase tax-free allowance to 15k. That will take me out of income tax.

Funny. I often think how much Reform supporters sound like TRA.
Very emotionally driven and resistent to any evidence that doesnt suit their narrative. Very angry and aggressive. Any disagreement or attempt to challenge their world view and they immediately assume the role of persecuted victims "You all hate us! You think we're stupid! You wish we didn't exist! You want to silence us!"
That's before we get started on the recent scenes of men attacking a woman at their conference. Pulling her hair, going for her with a walking stick, all because a woman dared to challenge them. Remind you of anyone?

Threads do tend to have that on here. Usually Labour with the they’re stupid, thickos etc

Not this again

I can’t stand the man

But for God sake, the Dublin agreement and losing it through Brexit has nothing to do with the numbers we’ve seen since then. How many did we return under that agreement? Maybe 300 a year maybe 200 a year? I don’t have the exact figure to hand and I’m supposed to go to bed so I’m not going to look it up.

@Meadowlands How do you explain all the other EU countries who have experienced exactly the same thing we have?

Edited

@EmeraldRoulette , some people wouldn’t recognise the truth and facts if they were hit around their smug faces with them.

How do you know people who are calling Reform voters stupid are 'Labour'? There is negative feeling towards Reform and its supporters from every other party and their supporters.
Some of that negativity manifests as calling their supporters stupid, but there is no reason for you to claim this is solely the preserve of Labour voters, other than to get a bit of a dig in, is there?

So you agree it is there, but annoyed Labour are seen to do it most. Ok

titbumwillypoo · 05/09/2026 13:45

Out of interest, for the people who support Reform, how much a week should be given to the people who as you say haven't put in? Can I have a rough amount to what you think is acceptable?

Yes, of course I've seen people call Reform supporters stupid. I've also seen people call 'lefties' stupid (and naive, woke, snowflakes, uncaring of rape and grooming victims, spiteful, jealous etc etc) and repeatedly twist our words to fit their stereotypes. As you have done by accusing me of being 'annoyed' when I'm nothing of the sort.
What I don't agree with is your claim its 'Labour' who call Reform voters stupid, when I'm fairly certain there will be posters who vote Conservative, Green, Libdem and Binface who believe them to be and may be impolite enough to say so.
I also think that while it happens, its happens a great deal less than Reform voters using it as a preemptive strike or distraction technique. Someone on this thread accused me of it with no grounds at all.
Much like the TRA cry of "You don't want us to exist", "You are calling us stupid" has become the silencer of choice. The DARVO that allows them to be as aggressive, offensive and devoid of all facts as they wish, then pull that out of the hat to close down challenge.
I'm surprised you haven't spotted it.

Oh well. It’s there, it builds a picture of how some, whose voting is often obvious, speak about people.

Goggga · 05/09/2026 14:07

LlynTegid · 05/09/2026 14:10

Many people never like to admit they are wrong. Reform voters and supporters are among them, but it's not only them.

Most people also want limited engagement with politics in general.

Its a stereotype though, isn't it? The sneering superior 'leftie', the uncaring bootstrap Tory, the stupid Reform voter. Its a little hypocritical to object to one while attributing it to your stereotype of another.
The only position on this that has a hope of the high ground is one that stereotypes no one and judges a poster on the content of their post rather than the party they support.
You can't get past your need to dig at Labour voters, other people can't get past theirs to have a go at Reform supporters. Neither is better than the other.

And some can’t get past a dig to Reform voters. It’s on pretty much any political thread.

I don’t agree with it, there are bigger issues to discuss.

TempestTost · 05/09/2026 14:20

I think you have a very simplistic view of that particular issue OP. Which is why people don't think that is the only or main cause.

I don't know how old you are, but people used to come in trucks, which was finally brought under control. And the problem isn't unique to the UK, it's happening all over Europe.

Ihateasthma · 05/09/2026 14:38

TheOnlyWayIsIlford · 05/09/2026 00:18

There isn’t an increase atm.

Numbers are significantly down this year.

No thanks to NF, obviously.

But yes, Brexit made it much harder to deal with.

Also more appeals have been lost to immigrants who are challenging the Home Office’s decision in not giving them a visa

I think that support for Reform is a big issue. Its ousted your party of choice into a poor third place, effectively replacing them as the viable alternative to the government, and at one time looked like it would pose a serious threat to mine.
I've said before, given I support the encumbent government, the three horse race and possible hung parliament doesn't concern me. But I'd have thought those who hate Labour would be interested in Reforms prospects and discussing people's motives for keeping them in the game, when there seem so many reasons for people to have lost confidence in them.

Has it? The polls are moving around and Conservatives went to second. It’s not fixed anyway it could be a threat to yours again.

Anyway three years out, or sooner I suppose. Whichever it’s very long time in politics. The French elections will be a factor.

The benefits system in the uk is contributing to an increase in immigrants. And the fact we speak English.
And we’re so inclusive ! Anyone who disagrees is just racist.

Illegal immigrants have no recourse to public funds and asylum seekers also cannot claim benefits.
Asylum seekers get £49 a week to buy food, clothing and anything else they may need. If the place they are housed in provides food this drops to less than £10.
Many become homeless as initial accommodation is only provided for 3-4 weeks.

That doesn’t seem right.
While their claim is being processed the government must house them.

After they are granted or refused asylum, then they only have 42 days to get themselves sorted or present themselves to whichever council they intend to claim housing off.
