Because Brexit , for which Farage was a leading advocate, put a stop to the UK being able to send the boats back. Before Brexit there was a returns agreement in place.
So be careful if you think he actually has a clue what he is doing.

No I’m referring to the op’s claim the Dublin Agreement resolved the issue by returning people to France. No EU country has sent people back en masse to a first country of entry, ie Spain, Italy or Greece.

I honestly wouldn't allow anyone to apply really. What India does is that they have certain groups they want to be allowed to apply. It's like how we did it for Ukrainians. But I don't want people from Afghanistan or Somalia or the Sudans to come.

That might work if we offered a means of claiming asylum support before coming to the country. It would have been perfectly possible but for Brexit. As it is, most asylum seekers have no choice but to come without visas etc and that means they are entering legally.
