AIBU Poor Dog walker had to witness

Mooseylooseyloo · 01/09/2026 18:18

I was reading an article earlier about a dog walker on Two Tree Island near Leigh on Sea in Essex who apparently came across a man naked from the waist down who then bent over and stuck a carrott up his backside.

Putting aside the obvious jokes, I actually found it very disturbing. The poor woman must have been shocked, frightened and probably quite shaken up by it, i live close by and have done this walk many times.

As a woman who often walks my dog alone, sometimes in fairly quiet or remote areas, it made me think about how vulnerable dog walkers can feel. Most of us are just trying to enjoy some fresh air and exercise our dogs, not stumble across something like that.

It also got me wondering what other strange, unsettling or downright bizarre things people have come across while out walking their dogs.

What's the weirdest thing you've ever witnessed on a dog walk

This could be fake news but, years ago, I read about someone getting Buzz Lightyear stuck up his arse because the wings popped out when in situ

As they say, anything's a dildo if you're brave enough!

NooNakedJacuzziness · 02/09/2026 07:40

@CrowsInMyGardenthat’s hilarious, he sounds like an old major type from a sitcom 😆

TishHope · 02/09/2026 08:07

I have to say after reading this thread that many of these are not funny at all. From my understanding, many men (and it is almost always men) start enacting out their perversions in ways described above, including doing a poo in sight I would imagine.

It's all very well, but from cases in the past, some of these public acts are gateways to more serious crimes, usually against women. I would report anything like this, every time.

Mooseylooseyloo · 02/09/2026 09:46

Reading some of these is bloody scary.
And I agree with the poster below that often the flashing type behaviour is just the beginning before they go on to do worse.

Naked rambling I think is actually more common than we think.

I used to live in a villiage outside Ipswich and I really did feel safe out walking my dog most of the time. I would go though all of the farmers fields for miles.
A year or so ago I read another news article that a lady had been beaten to death while walking her dog on one of my routes. Totally unprovoked by a stranger.

a popular dog walking wood land near Weston Super Mare an old lady was beaten to death there found by a lady when she saw the dogs running free. think someone else was attacked there
another was a gated woodland area not sure where but there was a man found dead on the walkway when the gates were opened the next day. he was married and was supposed to be going home but instead joined workmates for a drink. he had the train home a few saw him and next time he was seen was on this walkway. turned out a well known gay meeting place.
amazing what comes out after someone passes! that would be another good thread

The same thing but without the carrot. He was kneeling down

I was walking my dog in the middle of a Saturday around some woods - it’s a pretty busy spot most of the time and there were plenty of kids and families around. I went to walk in a slightly quieter spot in the same park and a butt naked man walked past me. He looked at me like I was in the wrong for encroaching on his naked hiking time and kind of huffed and covered his manhood with a shirt he had tied around his waist. But not before I got a total eye full. It was very strange and I had to check myself to make sure I was in the actual right place 😂
It didn’t feel intimidating though, just odd.

Why didn’t you call the police? That’s indecent exposure

My parents had this but down a country road

They where on my father's motorbike, riding down a small road the they came across two men having sex and filming themselves, right there in the road

My father stopped and asked them to move (!) but they refused as they where filming themselves and didn't want to move the camera

God know how it got sorted out but my mother did say it was very unnerving having two naked and aroused men in front of them

This wasn't a 'off the beaten track with a load of privacy' but a small, open country road (the type with no pavements and thin bushes along it)

My in laws lived in the country (as in,a street that was in the middle of fields, next to a wood and not much else)

My late fil said that the amount of men that stopped outside their house to have a pee (and worse apparently) was unreal

There was a wood at the bottom of the street (I say street losely) where they could have pissed and 'other activities' (in the words of my fil) to their hearts content but they didnt-they did it outside the houses where people lived

Late fils words not mine 'you have to have a very open mind to live here'

I didn't doubt it

It wasn’t unsettling so much as unfortunate but I came across a man rustling in the undergrowth in some woods recently. Due to the fact that he was rustling and then stood up, I looked at him while walking past, and he seemed very annoyed that I’d dared to be on a public footpath while he was “going to the toilet” about 2 metres away. I didn’t even see anything but he kept angrily calling “excuse me!!!” as though I’d opened the door to his private portaloo and walked off. I didn’t even stop walking and didn’t know he was pooing until he told me… bizarre

Didn’t occur to me to call the police to be honest

Unfortunately for me, dead body twice, suicides washed up on rocks.

Judysdreamofhorses · 02/09/2026 13:01

Poor woman, it's not funny and would have been very frightening.
Much less extreme but I was shopping with DH this morning and stopped to get eggs while he walked ahead, as I was standing there a man zoomed up beside me and stood inches from my face looming over and staring straight at me to the point that I jumped back.
When I got to DH he laughed and said 'that was weird, why did he take a run at you', I was actually really annoyed because DH clearly didn't get that it was intimidating having my personal space invaded like that, funny how he's never had it happen to him.

I recently walked past two naked men pleasuring eachother in a bush on a public walkway where lots of families walk.

Nothing stranger than men!

Nothing grosser and more illegal* than men

SerafinasGoose · 02/09/2026 13:09

Of course the dog walker was female. Of course she was.

Fucking arseholes.

I agree. I do get that yes it sounds absurdly amusing when told, but whether it’s this, or masturbation, or even just exposure, if it’s done deliberately to force an unwitting stranger to observe (like this situation) you have a dangerous person on your hands. Wayne Couzens had a few reported indecent exposures didn’t he, before he went on to do what he did…

Daftypants · 02/09/2026 14:01

I was once walking my dog in winter late afternoon so it was close to getting dark .
I misjudged how long I’d be and found myself on a poorly lit stretch of road where there are only a few homes very spread out ( it’s got much better lighting now )
A car came along , crawling along slowly ..stopped , stared at me , drove ahead a bit so I thought ok ? And got my phone out ready to dial emergency number .
Car then waited for me so I had my finger poised ready to dial .
The bloke ended up shouting out of the car to me “ oh is that a ( my breed of dog ) I’ve got one too “
Told him yes my dog is that breed and yes it’s rare but that he’d definitely put me on edge !!!
other than that I’ve only found run over fox 🦊😭 squished hedgehogs and dead squirrels 🐿️ which is bad enough.
If I found a bloke with a carrot 🥕 up his bum I don’t know what I’d do

Carrot up his arse? What a waste of good food!

Don't worry, he probably sneaked it back in with all the other carrots for sale at his local supermarket afterwards. Paraphilias tend to cluster.

I've just watched a programme about Wayne Couzens. Stupidly I always disregarded flashing as 'just' about exhibitionism but having heard Dr David Wilson talking about how it can be a gateway into rape it has opened my eyes.

I went to a dog training course, we found out it was a regular gay mens sex haunt. The number of cars that pulled up, saw a load of middle aged women and their dogs, made frantic phone calls and left was hilarious.

Tiltedd · 01/09/2026 23:30

I always think of the woman who found 3? Of Steven port’s victims in a graveyard? Or rather her dog did. In the same exact position. Absolutely mental

Edit it was 2

Edited

I was thinking if that also. Superb tv series with Stephen Marchant playing the lead role, and looking uncannily like the murderer.

How distressing. Hope you’re okay.

FOJN · 02/09/2026 17:35

I would say it's disappointing that flashing is sometimes still portrayed as amusing/harmless/something sad old men do for kicks but it's really not surprising. A police officer (I'm deliberately not naming him) who had the nickname the rapist and was under investigation for indecent exposure is currently in prison for murdering Sarah Everard. If that doesn't make people treat it as the serious crime it is, nothing will.

It's not all men but it's nearly always fucking men. Women can't even walk the dog or go for a run without doing a risk assessment.
