AIBU to suggest poor public behaviour should affect access to services?

Following many recent threads about what is and is not permissible in a decent society, can we agree on a list of actions that should exclude you from accessing state services?

To start with:

Using a phone on loudspeaker anywhere outwith your own home.
Wearing PJs outwith your own home.
Playing music - inside or outside - so loudly it can be heard by neighbours.
Cycling on the pavements (cycling is my main mode of transport btw).
Wearing balaclavas outwith the high mountains.
Riding an illegal e-scooter or e-bike.
Having an off-lead dog in public that is not under your full control.
Dropping litter.
Wearing scrunch bum leggings and other revolting clothing in public.
Swearing in public.
Driving without using your indicators.
Men without a top on in public.
Working cash in hand, or paying cash in hand for work done while knowing or suspecting tax may not be accounted for by the service provider.

Some of the above are more tongue in cheek than others by all indicate no grace, style or manners and we need to remove them from our culture.

What are you adding to the list?

This is how society once was, when people were brought up to respect themselves and those around them. Teachers had the authority to discipline unruly children, parents could properly discipline their children. Single parenthood was quite rare. Church attendance was much higher. We had an effective police force, rather than rainbow painted cars and taking the knee to some foreign druggie nobody had ever heard of. Far less of a drugs problem.
Proper punishment for crime.
And best of all.........NO SOCIAL MEDIA 😆

The list includes people wearing PJs and leggings, you know that is not antisocial or illegal, it is simple the OP picking at something that is more often done by people in lower classes. I didn’t make it classist, the OP did.

I'm quite aware some of the things on the list are not illegal! - Op said some of the ones included in the list were tongue in cheek.

I responded to you because you were implying by your post that anyone who objects to behaviours on the list regards themselve as superior . I don't think expecting people not to drop litter, not park on pavements etc etc is anything to do with feeling superior. Or class.

I'll add:

People who don't pick up their dog poo
People who move to the country, but then complain about the reality of the country (mud on the road, tractors working at night during harvest, the smell of muck spreading etc)
Giving young children phones/screens to shut them up (yes, I do judge you)
People having a pint at the crack of dawn just because they are in the airport
People who leave the engine running AND the car doors open (!) in the school carpark - yes, this happens on a daily basis
Communicating via long voice notes (an abuse of my time)

God yeah I get this too AND the sitting in your car whilst on the phone with it blaring out of the car speakers so loud that I can heard the other person breathing down the phone from my bedroom!

I find people wearing PJs in public antisocial. It’s not nice to see. It’s not hard to get dressed in the morning. 20 years ago someone might report it to social services as a cause for concern about someone’s mental health, and now we’re expected to accept it as something that happens because people are lazy. It’s grim.

Are people that expect others to dress before they leave the house, control their dogs and not drop littler ‘superior’ these days. I don’t see these things as ‘superior’ expectations but basic expectations of fellow members of society.

Can always rely on ‘outwith’ to pull a few non-Scots into being unnecessarily rude.

I’d add fireworks on random days with no warning.

If wee Mary/Bobby is going to have a fucking massive firework party for their birthday in mid August/February it would be polite to give the neighbours a heads up.

Because it’s lazy and slovenly to wear pyjamas outside of your house unless it’s an emergency. I’ve lived in a few countries but only in the U.K. is it argued as acceptable and if you complain you’re being a snob. Fine, call me a snob.

What is ‘povvo’ about any of the above points? Which - of any of the points above - are ‘povvo’ culture that ought to be tolerated.

People who hate jammies in public would never say anything to the women who go out in them, because people who go out in their jammies know how to fight 😭.

Live and let live. I don’t care if someone’s in their hello kitty jammies at the off license to grab a pink lemonade Lost Mary - as long as you don’t stink I could not give less of a fuck. Dropping the kids off at school even, yes it’s not exactly classy but as long as you’ve got them there on time and they’re fed and watered it doesn’t matter. The pyjama mum at my kids school is actually probably the kindest one of the lot.

Some of these things are scummy, like littering but there’s already a punishment for that it’s just not really enacted.

Oh - and letting off balloons or Chinese lanterns for any reason.

No you missed my point. The OP decided to put things on the list that would normally be associated with people of lower classes and mix it in with illegal behaviour as though they are on par. She displayed a massive amount of snobbery, I’m not the only one who spotted it as other posters have commented that they, like me, also wear their PJs when they feel like it and still pay higher tax.

She went from picking on illegal and antisocial behaviour which is absolutely fair, to picking out people who wear leggings or pj - rude!

I didn’t imply that at all. I just don’t like the fact that op made a list of illegal and antisocial behaviour then decided to throw in some things that people regularly complain about from ‘lower classes’ for zero reason at all.

It was a shitty thing to do. And many people, like me, don’t give a shit whether you don’t like me jumping in the car to go to a relatives whilst still wearing my PJs…doesn’t harm you, no! But I too, like a previous poster, pay high rate tax…so maybe next time OP makes a thread to try to be a dick to people she believes to be less valuable to society than her she instead just…doesn’t

I wrote the list. I never associated any of the list with class. That was other people. Are certain aspects of the list allowed if they are carried out by people of a certain class? If so which and why? Are people of that class supposed to lower their expectations of the society they live in? If so, why?
