To ask if you think the prime minister has a democratic duty to house asylum seekers in middle class areas

By which I mean, would most voters support this as opposed to a change in policy to refuse in greater numbers? I honestly can't tell what "the majority" actually wants. I would prefer fewer having seen how things went in Germany thanks to the Merkel wave but I am willing to believe I'm a backwards old boomer and a majority would be more welcoming.

They (UK governments) tend to say they have no choice due to the echr but this isn't true. There are a lot of operational choices they could make (eg sometimes when people are denied entry at the border they are actually allowed into the country for a few days and instructed to report back to the airport when it's time for the removal flight).

There is, and for a long time has been a "bigger picture" and an end game to this. I reckon it all began with this man, Peter Sutherland who is since deceased. Read the article and it might make what is happening a bit clearer. Look at the date too. Sutherland not only was the UN chief of Migration, he was also a leader of the WEF and met like minded folk at Davos a lot. I am convinced anyway that it all led from this. It's the economy stupid, well for a certain cohort anyway. What do you think?

It was as though I was reading the very same arguments from the lefties on here. I had the same look on my face.

bumblebee1000 · 14/08/2026 19:21

We are very close to a leafy middle class area and the britania hotel or similiar was closed and now houses migrants a few years ago..you wouldnt really know as there is a big hoarding outside it, which now blocks the view to the hotel etc and gates.

This is interesting. It’s very sinister. Imagine stating that economic prosperity is so important that we should deliberately change the ethnic make up of our country to increase it. In my opinion there have been various quislings along the way. It was Andrew Neather, an advisor of Tony Blair who talked about “rubbing the right’s nose in diversity” to “render their arguments out of date”. And its just gone from bad to worse since then. Labour, Tory all the same.

My sarcasm was obviously more subtle than I thought.

😂 sorry I've had a fucker of a day! I did think you were being sarcastic, I just didn't reply well.

I've seen posters on here actually defend them as fleeing for their lives before and it riles me up

What an absolute cunt that woman is. And all who sail in her.

What privilege in her life leading to that point of cruelty. Something she and others probably don’t value and denigrate.

Why is it only white countries that are expected to be multicultural?

Nuthatch26 · 14/08/2026 19:42

I really don't care about skin colour, its about culture and ethics for me. People of all colours are concerned about immigration.

MimiGC · 14/08/2026 19:46

It's not as simple as 'middle class areas' though is it? What about London for a start - who would even know who is an immigrant and who isn't?

Also, Clacton has virtually no immigrants - legal or illegal - but they vote for Farage. What's that about then?

It's simply not true that Reform voters are the ones most likely to be affected by illegal immigration. Loads of Reform voters who, in their day to day lives - barely clap eyes on any form of immigrant, let alone an illegal one. They just watch GB News and that's enough for them.

A lot of people who live in Clacton moved there from London, where they were unhappy because they had seen the areas they grew up in becoming unrecognisable. The fact that Clacton itself has relatively few immigrants now doesn’t change the profound anger and sadness people feel about the changes they have experienced.

I think most people used to or do feel this way. But as the tweet I posted above shows, very many people don’t feel this way about white people.

I think you speak for the majority tbh. No sane person thinks skin pigmentation can impact on behaviour, but most people are very well aware that culture can and does. Multiculturism, where people from completely different cultures with completely different values living in close proximity are supposed to all get along famously, is obviously mad. And I find it very difficult to see how it can be considered 'the right side of history' to be fine with one little girl being able to do whatever she wants, wear what she wants and build a life of her choosing, whilst next door a little girl of the same age is forced to leave school and get married at 16 to a much older man she doesn't know, then spend the rest of her life as a broodmare and housewife. Because culture. As an example - there are obviously many, some more or less severe, which don't always centre on females. I've always really struggled with that: how am I the racist for saying everybody should have the same opportunities and advantages of British society, no matter their skin tone?

Because they are devoid of any humanity

Thats true, there absolutely is prejudice against white people from some quarters. But I think its wrong to paint this issue as white v black/brown. Plenty of people of all colours want this stopped, including immigrants themselves who have had to jump through hoops to live here. The most conservative, anti immigration person I've ever met is a brown woman with Indian heritage.

I don't want to sound all conspiracy theorist (but I'm going to) but I have wondered if all Labour's drive to build massive housing estates all over greenbelt and every scrap of land in the UK is to house these men.

Because who else is going to be able to afford a mortgage now at the rates they are? So many adult children are still living with their parents and the COL and a lot of people aren't in a position to buy these spanking new houses.
The Government aren't doing a great deal to help any of that and also there is rising unemployment as various decisions this Government and previous Governments have made it so businesses don't want to take on young people or really any new people at all.

So who is going to live in all these houses? Is this where this is all heading?
Because when people quite rightly didn't want these undocumented men in hotels, they are now moving them to barracks and similar places.

Eventually they will need housing.

With so many people living in B&B's and temporary accommodation due to the social housing shortage, why is it ok to prioritise these men?

Yes, I don’t see it as a white v black/brown issue at all. It’s far more complicated than that. As I’ve said, much of the hatred of white people is being propagated and stoked by white people. See the tweet I posted, and my post about Blair’s advisor and subsequent governments.

But one of the reasons we’ve reached this dire situation is that people of all other races/ethnicities are allowed to defend their group’s interests. White people are not allowed to. Anyone standing up for the interests of white people is instantly labelled racist and usually a nazi. You can attack white people as a group, but you can’t defend white people as a group. Add in the hatred of white people as above and I really don’t think this situation is going to get resolved without facing this sort of racial issue.

Thanks for explaining. I don't quite agree with you, but I take your point about how some seem to hate white people. Although I see it as them hating what the west stands for rather than anything about race, even though they benefit from living in the west themselves! Crazy.
I think faith is more of an issue tbh. Much of our laws and values are based on the Christian faith, whether we follow a religion or not. Other cultures are based on a different belief system and the two don't can't mesh.

It depends who you're talking about. There are an awful lot of people who really hate white people because of their skin colour. There are others who are racist against anyone of a different race to themselves. And there are those who really hate western culture. There can obviously be crossover! What is peculiar is why anyone of any type would think Britain, or the west, is a good place to make a home if they hold these views. But I suppose nobody penalises them for such views, they get a much better standard of life than in their own country, and they can continue to exist in their own microcosm of home so they don't actually need to have much to do with those they despise.
