To find the Corporate Dad in the Med look kinda attractive?

You know the type - past the tiny kids era, so maybe 40 plus. Moans about choosing the holiday but once here's there he loves it.
wheels out a straw trilby that he thinks is beachy, crew clothing polo - collar popped , and patterned swim shorts (maybe featuring a lobster design)
slight paunch. Good legs.
Will be prevailed upon by his 12-year-old daughter to get an ill advised bracelet from the place they're in. Was given a leather one for 40th but can't remember where it went.
retires to the beach bar at 12 to check his work emails without the family seeing. Gets a beer as soon as is respectable

I love this guy. He's so predictable

I think this guy is quite well delineated in Sabine Durrant's latest - but I listened on Audible rather than reading, or I'd quote.

Do people post about kids on linkdin? Thought it was being excited about a new job or quarterly targets in EMEA

"What my son's graduation taught me about sales funnel coverage"

Say this to yourself out loud if you want to engage him in flirty banter every time a Holiday dad passes by.

thebear1 · Today 11:31

I think DH might be a budget version.

Dead Heat. I think there's a comparable dad in Lie With Me, too.

~ Enters thread with trepidation ~

Apart from the popped collar, this is me.....cycle so those legs are just fine, polos just work and Crew make half decent ones, I do have the patterned Finisterre shorts, and I do have a suspicious ability to remain tanned year round despite Celtic heritage....
And whoever said the classic leather wallet (John Lewis) and decent but not flashy watch (Seiko), or the sunnies from a decade ago when I was an outdoor instructor (Julbo, natch).
At least the hat is rarely worn, but seeing as the old hair line is somewhat receding now, I was trying on hats last week and kid of liked the straw hat...

Oh dear lord. I have become a pastiche of an internet thing....

CreativeGreen · Today 11:41

Yes, I think he's in Lie With Me quite well:

"Andrew was leaning back on his lounger in a pair of dark blue swimming trunks, a panama hat on his head, and a book in his hand"
....
"Andrew had got to his feet and was waddling down the side of the pool, bandy-legged, his toes splayed. 'Hello, hello, hello' he said, with enthusiasm ... He slapped me on the back. HIs semi-nakedness was disconcerting: pale calves, freckly lower arms, a surprisingly round belly, hitched over the trunks, for such a small man. 'Quick swim and then we'll crack open a couple of beers?'

....
'Slight problem,' I said, 'I've forgotten my bathers!'
Andrew gave a satisfied laugh, 'Trust you, Paul Daisy--get Paul a pair of mine, will you? The pink turtle ones?'

Yes they very much do. It’s literally full of people posting about their kids.

😩

<Boak>

Incredibly unattractive.

Looks like the kind of man who you end up next to at a work event who's got a fact and a story for every fucking thing. Then he gets a bit too complimentary.

BasiliskStare · Today 11:45

The true Corporate Dad's small son will have matching swimming shorts. They probably have multiple pairs and will make sure they wear the same patterned shorts on the same day.

Reports that I have in my time spent what I now consider to be stupid amounts of money in Vilebrequin are greatly exaggerated 😊

Ovoemconserva · Today 11:47

So much this. Can he wear a linen shirt with turned up sleeves in the evening?

InterestedDad37 · Today 11:48

Question: does this corporate dad buy his own clothes (👍) or does his wife assemble his wardrobe (👎)?
I'm enjoying the descriptions, but I feel this essential variable hasn't been considered 🤔

fishbowlee · Today 11:49

Its so MNs to say this is your DH or indeed yourself 😆

HoldMyWine · Today 11:51

Is he wearing those natty boat shoes made of denim?
