Zack Polanski and the guillotine

Everanewbie · 28/07/2026 16:50

AIBU to be sceptical that much will be done about Zack Polanski's tweet of an image of man wearing a t-shirt depicting a guillotine and the words "making plans for Nigel"?

Now I am not in favour of prosecuting people for words, and I don't want ZP sent to prison. But I would like to see this level of hate stop.

And I am finding the left to be extremely hypocritical with the violent rhetoric while simultaneously celebrating the arrest of Lucy Connelly and Graham Linehan?

Massive double standards from Reform who are championing people who have promoted burning hotels full of refugees, and melting down Nigerians to fill potholes. Now the free speech warriors are getting triggered by a t-shirt .

No, the contents of the t shirt. Beheading a politician. Are you one of the 19% of hypocrites who have responded to the poll?

Imagine if Nigel had been tagged in some divisive post. The lefties would be creaming themselves with glee and calling for his sacking.
We all know that is exactly waht would happen

Yep, no excuses on that one, no benefit of the doubt. This reminds me of Starmer's excuses for miscommunication over Mandelson. Once again, Polanski has fooled the gullible. He's doing a great job on that score.

The left doing what they do best - being full of hate

This is lazy as well as totally inaccurate. Please don't accuse all of us of 'being full of hate' because of the actions/behaviours of some.

This is ONE example.
And of course there's plenty of normal left people and I believe normal green supporters exist, too.
But doesn't change the fact that some of the left stuff is horrendous so I don't like them acting like the holy people.

There are. The mainstream parties on the whole historically ( especially Labour) have had to work hard to keep this element under control. But what's happened now is that the extremist element has decided they don't want to be controlled and have broken away. The Hard Left have been very successful in infiltrating the Greens because they are all ' everyone's opinions are valid/ no one is more important than anyone else' and have demonstrated the reason why this doesn't work by being overrun by crackpots and Islamist fundamentalists. The Right have broken off into Reform/ Restore when they used to be a reactionary rump of the Tory party best ignored. Neither of these parties are making any effort to keep the lunatic fringe under control because they were the lunatic fringe and are now in charge of the even more radical members of that fringe. It's been successful for them to be fair!

I think Polanski is odious and dangerous, much like Farage. As much as I despise him, I think this was carelessness rather than calculated.

I think the posting the t shirt is a distraction. The reason he was tagged was because he was at the event. It was a Green Party event. People in the Green party saw nothing wrong with it. A Green Party photographer took a photo, posted it on Instagram and presumably thought ' what a great tshirt'. Polanski was at the event and thought nothing of it. Green party activists were there and thought nothing of it. He and they are upset that other people have noticed it and have pointed out that it was in extremely bad taste.

I agree. The Green party have been taken over by hard left extremists. Extremism is fine if it's on the left. Reform created their party with a clear purpose. Both extreme parties, but one is covert and one overt in their intentions.

But Zack is still an idiot for allowing this. He is quite happy to lead a party that hates women and Jews.

Yanbu, he has refused to apologise. I am the farthest thing from a Farage fan, but Polanski is about as irresponsible as Farage is.

The caring, inclusive left feels anything but caring and inclusive these days. See also people rejoicing when people who don't share their political views suffer violent deaths. It actually amazes me that they cannot see how disgusting that it or that they don't care and still consider themselves "the good guys". No

My very left leaning friend found it funny when Charlie Kirk got shot in front of his family.

Rules don't apply to them.

I’m sure that they didn’t find it funny.

Could you perhaps go and be goady elsewhere?

The greens in Scotland are something else.

I am not the person you quoted but my far left relative literally phoned me at work, hardly able to talk for giggling when this happened.

Lucky you that you have never met anyone like this, but they do exist.

She's not being goady at all. Ann Widdecombe's murder brought out the same slugs.

You're so ignorant and that's exactly what is wrong with people like you. You weren't part of that conversation and are telling me you know what happened better?

I bet you conveniently didn't see all the tweets from the far left celebrating his death?

Something happens and the left are angry about it, their response - no, it didn't happen. Thank you for coming on here to show what exactly is wrong with people like you.

She must have missed the thousands of disgusting public responses to Charlie Kirk's murder.

Just a tactic to destract attention away from hard left extremists. I remember the outcry when Palestine Action Group were proscribed as terrorists.

Yep, the same relative i mentioned a few posts up started doing the same dancing on the grave skitt with Ann Widdecombe's murder. I pointed out that someone was being investigated by the police for making similar comments and he did shut up and apologise. He truly thought this was normal behaviour and that I would what? Join in? Absolutely not. Never. Disgusting

Again, how convenient.

Their sense of humour leaves a lot to be desired. Funny how they quickly lose their 'humour' when they are the target of a pisstake.

Or maybe she'll come back to say that it's me who's horrible to have a friend like that 🤔 Sure she'll find a way to continue attacking instead of admitting not everyone on the left is saint and holy.

That's the caring tolerant left for you.

US polling shows that those who categorise themselves as "very liberal" are far more likely to belive political violence is justified, and more likely to think its ok to be happy at an opponents death than those further right on the political spectrum. I think most people can see that a similar dynamic exists in the UK.

This makes sense when you consider the underlying philosophy of right vs left - right is ultimately about personal freedom whereas the left is about equality. Equality doesn’t come naturally but must be enforced at the expense of personal freedoms.

Great analysis.

Also, they're happy for a politician to be cruelly killed because they said some hurtful words.
But if someone suggests a death penalty for criminals who tortured and killed multiple others, they have arms up in the air for how inhumane it is.
Make it make sense.
