Am I the only one who silences the TV when the BBC starts with their advert featuring Ramesh Ranganathan? It’s the BBC advertising (but they don’t show ads or do they now) how amazing they think they are through the comedy antics (?) of RR. It just boils my 9!$$

I don’t think that’s right. I’m no expert but I don’t believe Sky uses any licence-funded infrastructure, except maybe whatever little they offer on Freeview.

Going one (or two steps further), its nearly abusive in its language in that it says what it does but never answers the question that it puts forward, it just belittles it.

95% of what I watch is bbc. And I listen to radio 2 pretty much constantly.

I support the existence of the BBC but it shouldn't get into bidding wars for "talent" or programme purchases with the other channels.

I support the BBC for its mission to inform and educate and its insistence on standards. Yes it’s news side needs improving at the moment, no surprises there after the years and decades of undermining from the privatized media giants who could make money hand over fist and control all our information if the BBC wasn’t there. I’ve been watching Evolution with Chris Packham just lately and it is just wonderful. My kids use the GCSE bitesize stuff all the time and I’ve always listened to the radio.

Be very careful what you wish for. We would have no information standards left without the BBC. Most standards have already gone.

Haven’t paid in 15 years for various reasons. Saw the ad when watching the World Cup the other night and paid up for the year. Made me teary felt very nostalgic despite being anti licence all this time. I suppose they’re hoping it works on a few million the way it has on me.

World Cup coverage was shared with ITV but pretty decent.
Athletics Coverage including the Diamond League. But they have lost coverage of the Commonwealth Games.

BBC News North West. Great down to earth coverage.

Hates.
BBC Verify. You know the service that was created by God and the BBC on the 8th Day.of Creation. Nobody else tells the truth and they are untouchable.

Far too.much coverage of US affairs.

Wimbledon. Still class ridden. Massively over hyped and very boring.

Despite BBC North West being a good programme. Over the last year l have noticed that the number of new women who work in news, local affairs weather and other depts. Has increased exponentially.

BBC Salford Quays Centre must be packed to the tunnels.

How much is all this costing.

Plus with YouTube and other tech..The World Service now seems old hat and jobs for the boys.

Watched Ann Droid last night on iPlayer
Was really boring and hackneyed. Gave up after 5 minutes and watched Sky Arts instead on Freeview.

I used to be a supporter of the beeb and would have lapped this up 30 years ago. Not so much now.

I love it, makes me feel proud.

The World Service is co-funded by the British government and the BBC. Think why that may be.

Their payments to "talent" infuriate me. Years back they were paying Christine Bleakley a fortune to present the One Show. Then she left (and married Frank Lampard) and they replaced her, no doubt on a much lower salary, by a little known presenter from Wales. That little known presenter from Wales, Alex Jones, is now one of the "talent" paid megabucks.

Why can't they just let her go and be paid megabucks by a commercial channel, (if she can earn it), and give a break to another talented little known presenter's career and save hundreds of thousands year?

Bit like the NHS.

My big issue with the BBC is the ridiculous salaries that presenters earn. They are obscene. Presumably you could reduce salaries and then reduce the licence fee.
I do love the programming. The BBC is a world leader in producing really high quality dramas and wildlife programmes. I would be very sad if they could no longer be funded.

I doubt the wage bill of maybe 30 people would make much difference to a multi-billion pound media outfit.

I’m more more bothered about paying for a news and current affairs provider that seems to recruit editors from university student unions.

I do value the BBC, particularly the radio content, drama (Small Prophets etc) and the religious remit (pilgrimage, songs of praise etc) but its shockingly woke anti-women capture has made me question its integrity and national mandate.

I know this is a dig at how “woke” they’ve tried to be in recent years but with Strictly, I genuinely had no issue with same sex dance couples or anything.

What I have an issue with, and why I’ve stopped watching, is the fact I don’t know ANY of the contestants. In previous years as little as two years ago I knew who most were. Last year I only knew Dani Dyer (purely because of who her dad is), and then she left after a week or so anyway.

The announcements this year are much the same. Well I know Lacey Turner from Enders years ago and Delta Goodrem was married to the guy from westlife years ago… I miss the days when actual famous people went on it!

Only if you think "trans" and drag should be shoved down our throats daily and women's concerns about our rights being eroded by men in frocks being ignored or worse counts as "reliable and informative". Personally I i don't
