To think Andy Burnham will call a general election before Christmas? Yes it would be a massive roll of the dice but,

Reform - don't have the numbers for a GE and there's all frog faces suspicious money bringing him a lot of heat.

Torys - kemi doesn't have a lot of depth, I feel and she hasn't changed much in the polls. She's good at the dispatch box but let's face it anyone could stand up and insult the other side.

By calling a GE Andy would have his own mandate and break the deadlock of the back benchers.

Not being unreasonable = he needs to call a GE

Your being unreasonable = Robotic Kier and Ratchet Reeves have gone and Andy just needs to get on with it now.

Fair enough but, in the broader sweep, I am of the belief that the UK wants less socialism, not more - and I don’t see Burnham being able to deliver that - quite the opposite, in fact.

Yep, don't disagree with any of this. It's the bit about this specific group of online supporters setting the scene when this sort of whining was done well before them that was wrong.

I remember that: when a new PM comes into power and you actually believe all the hype and promises. I think everyone goes through that phase.

At partygate it became more about the every day poster hounding, which the op wants to stop. That happened recently and Labourites embraced it, set it up as a way social media would be. Delighted at how much it could impact politics.

That is now aimed at their party.

Embracing it doesn't mean they set the scene.

What is the 'it' you think Labour supporters online set up and what does set up mean in that context specifically? Using standard definitions of the term.

No one has won an election from the left for over 50 years. Burnham will swing left and put Labour back into the electoral wilderness. His immediate successor will probably stay left because Labour never learn from history. Eventually, after two or three GE losses, they’ll regain some sanity and move back to the right. I foresee another chance for them in then 2040s.

I’d say the it is the hounding the pp referred to in their post. To which I responded (and could have been left rather than more scrutiny than the new PM’s speech).

Which some now would like to stop as it’s impacting their party. But many would have contributed to at the time.

Sorry which pp? I've not seen any post where someone attempts to explain how Labour set the scene other than all your attempts, would you mind quoting the bit you're thinking of? I'm referring specifically to scene setting, nothing else.

Afraid I still don't see who you mean, as the only posts I've seen attempt a definition are from you in response to me. If such a person were hounding you as opposed to simply replying, it should be easy for you to find their posts.

Hounding is the word they used that should stop wrt Labour. As Labourites enjoyed doing the same it’s hypocritical to now want it to stop.

You and I are focusing equally on your scene setting claim. Or alternatively, you've done it more if you were discussing this with someone else that I've missed. If having a new PM today is a reason for me not to focus on your claim, it's also a reason for you not to focus on it now and indeed not to have made that error in the first place.

Edit- perhaps @CagneyLacey or @LuckyHazelFox might shed some light, given their approving responses to you? I'm very ready to see a specific justification for the 'set out' claim from anyone.
