About the 80 page white floral dress thread. Update from the bride. Should I photoshop SILs white dress?

Hiya
Was umming and aahing about posting this here or in the chat section but AIBU is where the other threads were posted. IYKYK. I have had the (dis)pleasure of reading all 80 pages.

I'm the bride and I can confirm my SIL did turn up wearing the dress to the wedding. My best friend/MoH waited until after the wedding to show me the threads since some of the posts were a bit horrid tbh and she was so right I didn't need to see that before the wedding. She organised a post wedding girls night for me and the rest of our friends group who came to the wedding and that really was such a brilliant and surprisingly entertaining way to read through and digest it all with a few glasses of wine, some music and lots of love and support.

The consensus after last night's wine & whine is that I should keep shtum about the dress and the threads to MIL/SIL in person and that it would be better to create this thread and who knows they might come across it

Another idea that was floated last night was photoshopping the wedding photos with SIL in them to make her dress pink or yellow. If this is an awful idea we blame the wine!!

Hmm

You're gonna have to link the prev thread/s.

BurnTheWholeThingDown · 16/07/2026 16:36

Yeah there are a lot of threads with this theme, you’re going to have to narrow it down.

Nn9011 · 16/07/2026 16:38

Are you the bride who thought it was mil's dress but it was sil's?

Megifer · 16/07/2026 16:39

"Support"

😂😂😂😂😂

SoScarletItWas · 16/07/2026 16:41

Oh please let’s not give White Dress Woman any more publicity. It was a batshit thread.

…unless you’re going to tell us whether she dressed her DD in a totally-not-a-flower-girl flower girl dress, in which case I am here for it.

NotBreezy · 16/07/2026 16:44

Was this the one where the poster wanted to wear a white flowery dress which was perfectly acceptable, but the bride was a diva about it?

Pretty much.

Yup, I think so.

JulietteHasAGun · 16/07/2026 16:48

Think I missed previous thread but am intrigued.

do you and your SIL get on?

UrbanSoul · 16/07/2026 16:48

Who will turn up next? The Brides MOH? the groom? the vicar?

Yea the Hobbs one.

If this is true you have some very mischievous friends op, they've played you like a well tuned fiddle 😂😂😂

The bride never got to be a chance to be a diva because the SiL repeatedly posted saying she wasn’t going show her in advance. Bride had seen a completely unrelated dress at MiL’s house and asked MiL not to wear is as it was too white. SIL took delight in filling up two whole threads and only revealed the dress partway into the second.

Over the course of the thread she revealed all sorts of condescension to the bride, including borderline racism, and an unhealthy belief that her own mother got to dictate all aspects of the wedding because she paid towards it.

AgnesX · 16/07/2026 16:51

So what's the problem now? I remember the dress but didn't really follow the thread?

Edit: ignore, just seen the previous post which explains all.

Almost certain it was a bat-team effort.

I can tell you my DH did receive a text months in advance about what her DD was going to wear.....

The dress was cute and had lots of tulle and was shiny. It wasn't white so I'm not sure if that makes it a flower girl dress tbh and I would not have minded if it were!

I'll only believe it if you post a photo of them at the wedding in the dress lol

If this is re: the poster who wanted to wear the floral Hobbs dress then YAB(massively)U

Wasn't it that MIL had then presumed that the White flowery Hobbs dress was also too white as well and told her not to wear it? Or her brother had told her not to wear it?
Tbh it came across like both bride and sil had unreasonable expectations. White flowery hobbs dress not bridal = fine
Bride = if she had seen the dress and said no would have come across diva like. (Still unclear on this!!?)
Original thread poster = a bit batshit anyway and by the end everyone sounded crazy!
Op - sorry it had a negative impact. Nice to know you (probably) arnt batshit.
Glad you had a good wedding. Congratulations. I would leave the photos. In a few months this will be a wtf anecdote from your wedding. (Unless you Photoshop the entire group with crazy things and then every time you look at the photo it will give you a giggle)
If you want to read of terrible things at weddings there's lots on here. This was minor, don't let it ruin anything . At my own wedding my mil begged my husband not to marry me and was then vile to my terminally ill mother. I got so drunk I don't remember much. (We are still married, a wedding does not marriage make!)

HowSweatyMess · 16/07/2026 17:08

This is the weirdest way I've seen of an OP coming back for a second bite. The original wasn't all that interesting and certainly doesn't warrant a rematch.

Gooseling · 16/07/2026 17:08

Does no one in your family have hobbies?

Laurmolonlabe · 16/07/2026 17:13

I would just Photoshop her out completely, she doesn't deserve to be in the photos and you don't deserve to be constantly reminded of her behaviour.

ShowOfHands · 16/07/2026 17:17

Come back CVQ, all is forgiven.

nomas · 16/07/2026 17:19

theGFnowWife · 16/07/2026 17:03

?

She’s saying the dress was and non-bridal so there was no need for your comments.
