Personally I’m on the fence

As in “chavvy”

I don't think of it as a chavvy name, I don't particularly like it though.

Luddite26 · Yesterday 22:33

No not at all. I know a lovely lady called Kyra so I definitely don't think it is chavy at all.

NotYourTherapist · Yesterday 22:34

It’s a bit dated, but I think it’s pretty. I know two (in their 40s) and neither are what you’ve described.

Luddite26 · Yesterday 22:35

You mean Kyra sounds like Kai Ra not Keira?

Yes the first one

Yes

Name101019 · Yesterday 22:37

I like it but dh is making me think it’s common

OP posts:
Tinmanwalkedpastwindeh · Yesterday 22:38

Yes it sounds very chavvy

Lmnop22 · Yesterday 22:39

Sorry but it’s awful

Lilyhatesjaz · Yesterday 22:39

I have never met anyone with that name so maybe not that common.

GreenMarigold · Yesterday 22:40

I’ve never come across it

Bushmillsbabe · Yesterday 22:41

My view on a name can link to people I know with that name. There are 2 of them in DD's year if you are talking about the name sounding like 'Kai- rar' - both are bossy 'mean girl' types, dress much older than their peers and apparently quite disruptive. But if it's more 'keer- rah' then I know a couple of lovely people with that name.

Katemax82 · Yesterday 22:42

The only girl I knew with that name was from an incredibly rough family

ColdAsAWitches · Yesterday 22:42

The actress Kyra Sedgwick is the only one if that name I've heard of. I don't think it's common enough to be common!

Charmdefensive · Yesterday 22:42

I think of the actress Kyra Sedgwick (Kevin Bacon's wife) so not really chavvy but these days a lot of K names have a chavvy or Kardashian feel.

I'd go for Keira.

Hadenough32 · Yesterday 22:43

When I was a nursery nurse 10 years ago I only ever came across two Kyras. Lovely kids but yes from very chavvy families. Still think it's rare enough that it can be whatever you make it.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · Yesterday 22:44

Kyra isn't a rough or chavvy name.
If you like it then put it on your list

RaraRachael · Yesterday 22:45

I live in a place where loads of children are given made up names beginning with K so I'd put it with those.

DoAWheelie · Yesterday 22:47

I'd assume she had a sibling called Aiden or similar.

emptynestling · Yesterday 23:03

Only Kyra I know is 60, American, pronounces it Keira and isn’t a chav 🤷‍♀️

GotALionInMyPocket · Yesterday 23:16

I prefer Keira.

Needmorelego · Yesterday 23:18

I think it's a nice pretty name.
I hate the word "chavvy" though.
Disgusting word.

SquashPenguin · Yesterday 23:20

It’s a horrible name sorry.

InterIgnis · Yesterday 23:21

Yes.
