AIBU to not like watching a domestic abuser in the Wimbledon final? I have not heard one comment from the BBC about Zverev’s domestic abuse.

So you do belive Sinner is guilty on a drugs charge but you you don't believe Zverev is guilty when TWO exes accuse him of domestic abuse and he's very clearly demonstrated that he has a violent temper?

No he isn’t, he appealed, it went to trial he settled, the orginal order is now voided.

He was NOT found guilty and the case against him discontinued

But surely if you were innocent you would want to go to court to clear your name?

Sinner's doping test was positive. No denying that. All athletes when caught doping have excuses gor how the substances "unknowingly" got into their system.

Zverev was investigated and the case against him discontinued.

He was kicked out of the Mexican open in 2022 for smashing his racquet against the umpire’s chair.
He has anger issues; that’s pretty clear.

And no, innocent celebrities often don't want to go through years of legal battles that could be career-ruining and extremely expensive and rather pay a fine/settlement to end the case there and then.

sinners doping was incredibly miniscule, it would not have affected performance, and he’s passed every other urine test and is worlds number one. So clearly not relying on drugs.

as for zverev, my go to is always to beleive the woman. His ex could not breathe properly or swallow properly for days. You can decide that as he’s handsome you don’t beleive her.

I don't think you understand how doping works or what athletes use it for. On championship days when they are guaranteed to get tested of course it will be out of their system (or only accidental traces left) otherwise they would get disqualified.

The woman you feel sorry for is amicably co-parenting with him and did not pursue her case against him.

I have a soft spot for Zverev because he has a very serious health condition that affects him every day, yet he's the Tennis World no2 against all odds. I very much admire that.

@MrsKeats Actually no I don't like Conner McGregor 🤮 Very different character to Zverev if you ever heard either speak. Zverev is my favourite tennis player and has been for a long time and there's a lot of misinformation about him on this thread, hence feeling the need to defend him.

I agree and I don’t think he should be allowed to play for his country when these accusations have been made. Apparently he ‘settled out of court’ (so paid off his ex partner). How is that not an admission of guilt?

Errr... What does Zverev being white have to do with anything? Sinner is also white and currently my favourite footballers are Mbappe and Bellingham 🤷‍♀️

I've always liked Zverev as I'm Russian-German like him; we saw him play live several times and he was lovely talking to my daughter about hoping to win Wimbledon (this was a few years ago at Wimbledon) and took selfies with her; he's defying all odds suffering from serious Type 1 diabetes; he's worked incredibly hard on his game to improve this year to finally win a Grand Slam having thrown it away in the final several times before; and yes he's very handsome and likeable in my opinion 😀

I also find him handsome and personable. But I don’t excuse domestic violence and I won’t beleive a man over a woman as he’s handsome and personable.
