To start, I know it’s not, I know it’s dangerous, I know it stinks and is a horrid habit. I’m not going to start.

but equally….I’d bloody love to take up smoking 🤣

I just think it can look so chic, especially the skinny little European cigarettes.

I love the idea of sitting out with a glass of something, puffing on a little cigarette.

having a mid morning coffee outside a cafe on a cobbled street, cigarette in hand.

Or, the original ozempic…a cigarette and a can of Diet Coke of lunch.

like I said, I’m not going to start, I don’t like the smell and I’ve also been very vocal on my views on vaping.

but, at the grand old age of 40, there’s still something about it that I look at sometimes and think ‘god, she looks cool’

I think it looks gross. It stinks. In fact when I read books I am put off if the main character smokes. And I say this as an ex smoker. It’s repulsive.

Yeah I have to say I agree - there is something so glamourous about it, when in reality it’s dreadful! I don’t smoke anymore but I do still miss the days when I used to smoke the skinny little vogue menthols with a glass of something

Some people do make it look cool but I think it’s more of a case that they are already cool.

I'm with you on this, Op. I find the drifting smell of second hand smoke on a hot day very very sexy.

As an ex-smoker, I definitely think it looks cool! But I'd never go back, it's disgusting.

Vaping, on the other hand, really not cool at all.

It looks cool from afar but it’s a horrid smell and that is enough to put me off, never mind the health risks.

Yes, I agree. I wouldn’t smoke as I value my lungs too much but I still think it looks cool.

It definitely looks cooler than vapes which are the least cool thing ever.

But it's probably the demeanor more than the actual act of smoking that's the "good looking" bit. Like relaxed poses, the ritual etc

It looked cool in Grease when Sandy took a drag of her cigarette, said “tell me about it stud” and then crushed the but with her stiletto. I say this as a non smoker who hates the smell

It’s not that though, It’s the expressions people make when they are doing it, the eyes, the mouth, the hands etc but if you don’t get it, you don’t get it.

Really? People stink, have yellowed teeth and fingers, and sometimes have coughing fits - I don't find it remotely attractive or glamorous. And it costs a fortune.

Watching my mum die in agony of lung cancer, about 5 stone, with huge cancerous growths up her spine….
Not cool at all.
I lost her far too young and it was the most hideous, traumatising death. It took two years to watch her dwindle, no hair, couldn’t eat or breathe properly as her body decayed.
As for your post title in the words of Victoria Wood - no offence meant, but plenty taken.

I think previous posters are right - if you are already cool and chic, it looks cool and chic.
if you are stood around in joggers, hoody and a Miss Trunchbull bun (guilty) it looks the opposite.

I get what you mean. Except the Diet Coke, which is a disgusting drinks, and not the original anything - if you’d said coffee again then fine.

But my parents used to smoke. My dad used to lie on my bed with me when I was young and couldn’t sleep. He had this lovely knitted jumper that used to smell of tobacco. That smell instantly takes me back to my childhood

Complete opposite...someone could be a 10, and if I see them with a cigarette it straight away moves them to a 1!
