In thinking the worst thing about this hot weather is smelly people?

I’m on a train back from London after a few days break and the whole place seemed to smell of BO, I know it’s very hot and sticky but it’s vile.

sitting on this train there’s been several people sitting/standing beside us who have been so smelly they’ve made me feel literally sick. I don’t know how hard it is to wash once a day and stick deodorant on?
There was one man, well dressed stand beside me whilst I was sitting and I could smell what I thought was poo off him like a not wiping/festering in the heat situation. Then there’s the BO/stale fags/stale beer delight we had on the way down.

I know I’m tired and perimenopausal but subjecting other people to your smelly body is horrible IMO

People who smell at 8am on the Tube (into London, so not likely to be shift workers on their way home!)
How hard is it to put on clean clothes daily in a heatwave? And to shower in the morning?

Thing is if you start sweating at 8-9am then by 4-5pm it’s not fresh sweat is it?

I think excess deaths is the worst thing about the hot weather, personally. Perhaps you could carry a nosegay or similar device to protect your sensibilities.

Not BO so much but men insist on taking their shirts off in a confined space and then their hot flesh smells like - well, meat. Bleugh. I feel for vegetarians!

Though last weekend I was in a cafe with my mum and the guy at the next table smelled. I think some men refuse to wear anti-perspirant because it is somehow unmanly.

Agree about (strong) perfume too, it's horrible. And even worse when mixed with BO!

I felt the same yesterday. I was carrying a fresh top to change into before boarding transport home - surely a simple solution for most people?

I was going to ask the same? What's wrong with smelly? Should we be saying maloderous?

Ugh yes the tube is awful. I was in London a week ago and deliberately planned my routes around the Circle, Hammersmith and Met lines rather than the Central (also wanted to avoid the Picadilly, Northern and Bakerloo).

Even the night before I went down there I was sure I could smell in my sleep that heavy, dry, too-hot electrical smell of the Tube! It's unlike any other subway system I've ever encountered - anywhere.

So glad I came home the same day, and on a late train which wasn't quite so rammed as usual. London is uncomfortable in the heat: I don't think I could stand living there full-time.

I'd never go to London at any time of year without wipes, change of top and two changes of underwear. I can visit any other city in the UK but when I return from London I always feel dirtier and smellier than if I've been anywhere else.

YABU.

The second worst thing is smelly people.

I work afternoons or evenings. The other day I showered and changed underwear before work. 2 hours in and I could smell myself.

Last thing I want to do after a long, hot day is fanny around getting changed again. I just want to get home and shower. We don't have the chance to just take a shower whenever we feel like it at work (I really doubt most places do have showers) either

I can recommend Salt of the Earth deo - it comes in a roll-on and a spray form and my top didn't smell yesterday despite going for a walk in the morning and sitting in it all day at home. I think you can get it from Holland & Barrett among other places.

Yes. Some people seem to have very little input with their own personal hygiene. 🤮
