I didn’t stay up for the match because there was no way to make it work with my job, but if I could’ve I would’ve.

I can’t understand the actual visceral anger on here about it? It’s one night - kids won’t drop dead at school, workplaces won’t fail, but a lot of people will have just had a brilliant night.

I just don’t understand why some people can’t accept that others enjoy other things and it doesn’t need to be a big deal?

I watched the lead up to, and including, the World Cup final in 1966 - the excitement etc was just the same as now.

We are probably of an age and our memories become quite subjective. I saw (and celebrated) the final - but the rest? Nope, nowhere near the hysteria demonstrated these days.

My main complaint though, was the OPs rudeness towards those that dared to disagree with her. I'm sure in real life this person would not be so offensive.

You don't need to live right near the pub to feel the effects on your neighbourhood. If you shop in the high street or have friends and neighbours near a pub the state is there as you go about your business.

The thing that annoys me is the assumption that people who hate football are middle class. I grew up in a working class family and i have never liked football. People shouldn't be made to feel guilty just because they like different things.
