Just seen this on the BBC - there is an issue with weather.

Keep an eye out - I've posted here for most traffic.

Didn't know there was a poll..

YABU keep it at 1am.

YANBU get a good nights sleep.

That ok?

It doesn’t matter what time the game is played, England are not going to win. Which is a blessing really because it’s Argentina in the next round and England would be completely humiliated against Messi and co. Best to go out quietly 2-1 to Mexico

poletpooh · 03/07/2026 23:12

With the altitude and no time to acclimatise, England have no chance whatever time the kick off is.

CaffeinatedMum · 03/07/2026 23:31

I don’t work Mondays and am due to be driving Sunday evening…. In the minority hoping the KO remains at 1am!

CaesarAugusta · 04/07/2026 00:03

According to current reports no final decision has been taken on this.

sittingonabeach · 04/07/2026 00:22

@Eastie77Returns might not be Argentina!

MasterBeth · 04/07/2026 00:51

MidnightPatrol · 03/07/2026 20:12

Blatantly as a result of the reduction in viewers for overnight games… and the reduction in advertising revenues.

Much though I’d love to watch it, 1am just isn’t workable…

What a load of nonsense.

Kick off is still 1am UK time. Apparently FIFA wanted to announce it on Friday but both Mexico and England weren’t happy with the proposed late change so FIFA have done a U-Turn and kept the original kick off time

Messi and co have barely been able to beat Cape Verde tonight😭😂

Go have a look at the weather forecast and come back to me.

Here I am, as instructed.

England game may be moved to 7pm Sunday
NaturallyCuriousCat · 04/07/2026 05:46

This is confusing: so it's midnight tomorrow as originally planned?

It must be because I'm getting older but I just wondered what players do if they need the loo during a match

HoraceCope · 04/07/2026 05:55

a u turn
no 7 pm start for uk

HangryBrickShark · 04/07/2026 06:03

Yes I've just heard on the radio it will be the original time of 1am on Monday morning. The storm idea has been quashed apparently.

MandemChickenShop · 04/07/2026 06:14

get in. pints at 4am on a Monday morning still and it's legit, government endorsed even. clearly no alcohol problem in this country!

It nearly wasn’t!! Cape Verde were amazing

Argentina were complacent because of the perceived quality of their opponents (I’m not taking anything away from CV, they were incredible!). But there is no way England in current form will be able to beat Argentina and a win against Mexico at that altitude is extremely unlikely.

I agree with a PP that this country has a seriously dysfunctional relationship with alcohol. Allowing pubs to open until 5am is madness. Sadly we know that incidents of domestic violence will increase after the game (DV cases always go up during the WC) as many ‘supporters’ will start drinking Sunday afternoon so literally 24 hours boozing. Not to mention the usual racial hatred that will spill out against the Black players in the England team.

They've done a Keir as we say now.

Thecows · 04/07/2026 09:54

No hope with the altitude, its brutal. Do feel sorry for England

England have drawn the short straw. Meanwhile's France continue their easy run with Vancouever being their next venue.

i dont think england has drawn a short straw
trying being cape verde and playing argentina
or scotland playing brazil
england have got through somehow but havent made it look easy.

I'm making comparisons to France, the world cup favourites, not other teams.
