Just seen this on the BBC - there is an issue with weather.

Keep an eye out - I've posted here for most traffic.

Didn't know there was a poll..

YABU keep it at 1am.

YANBU get a good nights sleep.

That ok?

This will be good as our daughter was set on being woken up in the night to watch!

Bit of a bugger if you'd agreed to the overtime and then it got cancelled.

You're loving this 😆 🤣 😂

EasternStandard · 03/07/2026 20:33

Earlier sounds good. I wonder if the pubs will stay open still. I guess so

I'm guessing a lot of staff were put under pressure to work so maybe not so much of a bugger.

‘ it’s being moved , it’s being movedddd’

LuckyHazelFox · 03/07/2026 20:37

Pubs might still be allowed to stay open late.

Julcandoit · 03/07/2026 20:37

I think it will be so much better for everyone ,emergency services, pub workers, schools etc if brought forward.

I do have insomnia, so actually the 1am would suit me more.😵

Blatantly as a result of the reduction in viewers for overnight games… and the reduction in advertising revenues.

Much though I’d love to watch it, 1am just isn’t workable…

Cynical but very probably accurate. I read that it means they will be playing in 26 degrees instead of 20. Would that make a difference to performance?

People would be comatose long before 5am!

I imagine lots of struggling pubs were excited to have the extended opening hours. I know not was controversial for the police and schools and such, but it would have bought in much needed income into the hospitality industry, I’m sure.

Shelleyblueeyes · 03/07/2026 20:47

The thunderstorms have done us a right favour if you have to get up for work/ school in the morning.

Not sure how the pubs feel about it though when they'd agreed a late opening. X
Defo Less money in the tills for the pubs/casinos x

Well, the people watching the game at 1 will be watching it at 7.

Plus a load more because of the better time.

CosyDenimShark · 03/07/2026 20:51

I'm over the bloody moon about this!

My work has been on a summer break this week so Monday will be a 9 day accumulation of work. We have to go in early to compensate.

I was planning on recording it and not looking at social media or the news and getting up at 5am to watch before I left. 7pm much better for me!

Hopefully it doesn't impact the players too much in what is going to be a massively challenging match anyway.

Didn't affect Maradona, it's the altitude that they think they will struggle with but everyone else seems to cope. I thought the stadium has a retractable roof that covers 80% of the stadium, I don't believe it's the weather but lets wait and see.

Well, yes, they will still be watching it at 7, but the longer hours meant lots of people would have started drinking earlier and for much longer, so yes it will make a difference in that sense. But yes, potentially many more will go to the pub instead and that will be better for profits. Who knows, I am just wondering out loud.

It didn't affect Maradonas HAND.

Azteca Stadium is 2240m above sea level.

Snowdon is 1085m and Ben Nevis is 1345m above sea level.

Altitude will impact the performance of the players.

I’d have thought a sensible kick off time for both the host nation and visitors viewers would be in everyone’s interest

not to mention the police, emergency service operators, and school attendance staff

zanahoria · 03/07/2026 21:03

JudgeJ · 03/07/2026 20:10

Been confirmed apparently. Crafy move, it will be in the scorching heat, better the later kick off!

It will be about 20C there

Probably hotter here

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 03/07/2026 21:03

That's annoying. I have no interest in football but quite fancied the 10am start Monday.

To be fair, 22 blokes keeling over dead because lightning's just struck a wet and flooding pitch would be a bit of a downer. As would having to suspend play for 30 mins and evacuate the stands after each strike within 8 miles.

You read wrong.

It’ll be 20° instead of 26°

My work has already said everyone can go in late and not have to work time back... oopsie it's Friday evening now so they can't change their minds ....

I'm being thick I thought it was being played at 7pm on sunday. That explains why some people have mentioned over time at work.😳

Don't worry. I woke up and thought it was Saturday today. 🤦🏻‍♀️

We have spent £250 on going to our first gig as a family. We never go out on a Sunday evening. Now what?? The venue isn't even in England.
