AIBU
cats, yesterday outside my front door I have put in two lovely new flower beds, within less then 12 hours, two cats shits!
we are a end semi, they seem to love our garden!
we have tried cat alarms,
its making me dislike neighbours that own the cats, selfish to own a cat when they know damn well they are going to shit on someone else’s property.
I might just go let my dog take a dump outside their house!!!!!!

I love all cats.
I hate most people.

On the whole, people make a lot more unsightly mess than cats do.

Our NDN's have got 2 cats that use our garden as their toilet, which our dogs then eat if I don't see it first. And both dogs have been really poorly from doing so with gastric upsets needing vet treatment. I'm getting really fucking sick of it to be honest.

But we don't tend to pop next door to have a shit in their flower beds though do we?

I may have a solution . I had the same problem and unsuccessfully tried many ideas over the years . The only thing that worked was pouring diluted male urine in the area. My partner took a little 🤣 persuading to supply the necessary pee pee!

JMSA · 30/06/2026 12:02

I have one and I love her to bits, but I won’t own another.
My dog = animal perfection 😇

aliceyyyy2654 · 30/06/2026 11:10

I hate dogs and dog owners

This is the kind of nonsense that my stroppy, fixed-mindset 16 year old would spout!
How can one person hate all dogs, dog owners and even people in general, as I’ve read on here? The common denominator is the hater, surely?!

Noshowlomo · 30/06/2026 12:08

Cats are angels, in a small furry predator body 💙💙

Dragonscaledaisy · 30/06/2026 12:15

They're revolting filthy creatures. Thankfully my three boys ensure my land remains a cat free zone at all times. They adore our badgers and foxes though, which makes them utterly perfect.

Ohhh interesting, I might get him to go have a little tinkle in my garden.

Get my partner to have a little tinkle in my garden, not your partner 😂😂😂🤦🏻‍♀️

This is just feline friendly banter, japes!
Try living with one
I literally can’t understand why I love him so much 😂

ArabellaWeird · 30/06/2026 08:29

You can get a sensor that hooks up to a hosepipe that blasts water, and once you've got it set up correctly is very effective.

This sounds like a good idea! Thanks @ArabellaWeird

Then don’t get a cat. Very selfish to inflict your pet on someone else just because you want one.

So are dog owners not being selfish when they allow them to bark, take them into cafes, have them off lead in public areas, allow them to wee on people’s walls, fences 🤷🏼‍♀️. In my opinion that’s more selfish. At least cats are outdoors and won’t affect anyone who have allergies unlike when dogs are taken indoors to cafes etc.

dnasurprise · 30/06/2026 12:36

you can get the plastic spiky stuff. it doesn't hurt cats they just won't walk on it (nor will foxes). Its the safest way to protect a new flowerbed or large flower pots. You can either put it around plants or plants grow through it. Its expensive if doing a large area but worth it. Put it down in my raised vegetable beds this year and we have had a much better crop.

Yes, if it affects other people and they’re taking them places where they aren’t explicitly allowed to be.

If people choose to have pets, they should make sure others aren’t inconvenienced by them.

Cat wee is worse, that can’t be picked up!

Urine is an excellent fertiliser for the soil.

Cannybeme · 30/06/2026 08:30

How do you feel about birds shitting on park benches and car windows?

Birds are part of nature and aren’t owned by selfish people who then make excuses for why they should be allowed make a nuisance of themselves on other people’s property. Do you see the difference?

Ladywhatlunches · 30/06/2026 13:01

I know I’ve said my bit on this thread, yes I have a cat who roams, I’ve got neighbours with dogs who walk them on stupid extendable leads whose dogs pee on my front hedge, or bark. It’s annoying but unless you live with no neighbours you just have to live with things. Having said that if a neighbour complained about my cat pooing in their garden and they could prove it was him I’d happily clear it up. He has a litter tray but prefers to toilet outside. I also have no objection to anyone taking steps to keep him out providing it’s not harming him.

ginasevern · 30/06/2026 13:12

@AlcoholicAntibiotic "If people choose to have pets, they should make sure others aren’t inconvenienced by them."

What about all the human shit and piss in our oceans and rivers, to say nothing of the gazillion tons of indestructible plastic, radioactive and foul noxious waste on land and in the atmosphere. It won't be cats that destroy the planet. There's only one animal capable of that and it's well on the way to succeeding. The name of that animal is human and they are the biggest "inconvenience" the earth and everything on it has ever seen.

FourSevenFour · 30/06/2026 13:20

YANBU.

Selfish people will blab about fertilizer and birds to not face the fact that they are chosing to have a pet and letting it endanger your children's and dog's health in their own garden.

Unfortunately, many cat/dog owners are becoming seriously antisocial.

nomas · 30/06/2026 13:29

Good grief, OP doesn't want local domestic cats crapping in her garden, she doesn't need Lions doing it 😉

Ditto dogs, though I wouldn't harm one, (except the one which slobbered all over my 1 year old granddaughter sitting in her buggy).
