The fascists were racists and xenophobes and followers of Stephen Yaxley-Lennon and his bully boys, and men massively outnumbered women. They included a couple with 2 young children and a baby in a pram, which sets a lovely example to their kids.
The anti-racists were much more mixed, and the group that went from my town, which is near Brighton, included some SAHMs, students, the chief exec of a regulatory body, at least one builder, several teachers, a dentist and two firefighters. If the gender mix was the same as at the London event a couple of months ago, I'd say it was around 3 women to every 2 men.
The local paper ran a live stream, and the anti-fascists spent much of the time kettled under a bridge by the police before being escorted to the station.
