No it shows that Reform bots are very much alive and alert. Sooo easy to swipe in and click on a vote button with little substance. Oh that sounds familiar….

I would imagine that it’s the complete opposite. It is the left that are generally younger and thus more likely to be on social media than the right. So online voting will be skewed in favour of the left. For example, if you scroll on TikTok for half an hour you might think that there was a lot of support for eg males pretending to be females. But in my own real life experience, I do not know a SINGLE person who supports this. Not one. I don’t limit who I speak to either, there just isn’t any supporters (that I know of) in my town. This was apparent in the recent local elections where it was discovered that there are huge numbers of reform voters, they’re just not online.

Dandelionsalad · 14/06/2026 12:13

Someone saying 'migrants welcome' isn't saying 'we want loads of illegal immigrants'.

Many of those campaigning this way are open border extremists. They don’t believe there is such a thing as an illegal immigrant; they think anyone should be allowed to come to this country and once here receive benefits. They don’t believe there should be ANY barriers to entry.

They also seem to have complete lack
of understanding of basic maths - like the Green aspiring politician who refused to accept having another couple of million people living here might put additional
pressure on housing.

I reckon Mumsnet has been infiltrated by this propaganda unit:

https://www.dailymail.com/news/article-15897997/unit-government-police-MI6-agent-racial-tensions.html

The views on here don’t represent the views of anyone I’ve encountered in real life.

No, I think there are just a lot of middle class women in naice areas who like to flaunt their left wing credentials on here tbh, and call other women liars.

5MinuteArgument · 14/06/2026 12:17

We're going the way of Germany. In 2015 the govt invited over a million migrants from middle east and Africa. It was called Wilkomenkulture. Anyone who voiced concerns was shouted down.

Then they had mass sexual assaults in Cologne, multiple murders and rapes carried out bt refugees and terrorist attacks on Christmas markets.

Now there are 152 far right AFD members sitting in the German parliament. People are sick of all the denial.

@80smonsterare you a yes?

The dispersion of asylum seekers is surely more to do with where it is cheap to house them? If your question is does London take its fair share of asylum seekers, it takes 15% - as greater London is approximately 0.65% of UK in geographical terms - everything seems perfectly in order? If anything we take a very high proportion. Brighton apparently only houses 65, so they should definitely house some more. Sounds like they are up for it, which is great.

If you think ‘I’ve met people like this’ is equivalent to ‘I KNOW EVERYONE ON THIS WEBSITE!’ then your debate skills are so poor you can’t take part.

94 people have been killed since the year 2000 through extreme Islamist terrorism. That doesn’t include other killings by mentally unstable or deeply misogynistic immigrants from very violent, woman oppressing countries. I don’t know what number it would be if we did, I’m guessing well over 100.
By comparison, I can count 4 people who have been killed by ‘ultra right’ Neo Nazi style attacks.

^ Can anyone comment on this bit who is ‘more worried about the right wing than immigration’?

…anyone? 🍂

I don’t believe anything I read on the internet. Especially on a site like this, which is known to be influential. Of course it’s going to be infiltrated by agitators and anyone with an agenda. It’s the easiest way of influencing the gullible public.

Drip, drip, drip.

Agree it makes sense for Brighton to do more. Their numbers are low and they are keen.

That’s not quite right. Re asylum seekers Brighton has :-

Adults in Accommodation: Around 130 people are supported in Home Office asylum accommodation at any given time.
Children in Care: The council cares for around 53 unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.
Hotel Use: The use of contingency hotels to house asylum seekers in Brighton has dropped significantly. There are now only about 55 asylum seekers remaining in local hotels, which is a steep decline from previous peaks

It’s also a city of sanctuary

Gkei737djdh · 14/06/2026 12:31

Brighton is clearly doing it’s bit.

Longtermuser · 14/06/2026 12:33

It's pretty galling seeing people like Fatboy slim , with his gated property and private beachfront out supporting asylum seekers when 3 of them beat and raped a woman on the public beach in Brighton just a few months ago.
How many rapes/murders are we ok with before something has to change? UK citizens are becoming collateral damage due to repeated inept governing.
Of course we all know there are many genuine, non criminal asylum seekers but many are dangerous criminals, likely wanted in their own country or just mentally ill for those raised in uncivilised countries at civil war, but equally as dangerous as we've seen.
We have to have robust screening to ensure we are not inviting dangerous people in.
We also don't have the mental health resources for suicidal teenagers here in the UK so how are we going to support the huge increase in mental health care requirements for all the traumatised asylum seekers?

Brighton is welcome to all the refugees if they want them so much.

My daughter has to walk past a hotel that houses refugees on her way to college. Every day there are disgusting sexual comments shouted at girls by the refugee men who stand around smoking in large groups. Girls that aren’t in large group with lads have been approached and inappropriately touched.

I don’t want them here, send them to Brighton, if Brighton are so keen to have them.

Edited

She doesn’t “have to”, she could probably avoid it taking a different route. She could also report it to the police.

This is also true when it happens walking past a building site.

What now?

Those cheering pro immigration protests in Brighton of which this thread was started to celebrate whilst taking the piss out of the anti immigration marchers. Name calling them knuckle draggers etc. We have no idea of the personal reasons why they are marching. We know of one woman whose daughter was murdered by a immigrant housed in a hotel she was employed in. You support the pro immigration protest yet you don't want them on your doorstep. The hypocrisy is breathtaking.

Somebody mentioned student accomodation in Brighton and I hear that university is less attractive than an apprenticeship these days so student numbers may start dropping...

LBC can reveal a "luxury" student block in Huddersfield has been taken over by the Home Office to accommodate migrants, leaving more than 150 students scrambling to find somewhere else to live.

I’d imagine as Brighton make up 0.3 of the UK in geographical terms, this may be a possible driver for low AS numbers. That and hotels do very well in Brighton all year round, so there may be an element of practicality. It’s easier to place asylum seekers where we have empty hotels and failing economies? Do you agree?

No go with the keenest areas. Brighton and where some of the earlier keen posters are.

Hopefully this will give immigrants the clear message that they will be warmly welcomed in Brighton.
It will be interesting to see what they make of the strong LBQT community and city vibe. Maybe this will be the start of a beautiful transformation of the country’s relationship with immigrants!

Based on the 2021 census 20% of the population of Brighton and Hove were born outside the UK. It’s probably higher by now. That’s substantially higher than the UK average so it seems that immigrants are already welcome there and are integrating well. I go there a lot for gigs and hear accents from all over.

Just read first few answers so googled Fascist/Fascism meaning. Have copied and pasted it for anyone interested!

Fascism is a far-right, authoritarian political ideology and system of government characterized by:

Dictatorial leadership — power concentrated in a single leader or small ruling group.

Extreme nationalism — the nation, state, or race is viewed as more important than individual rights.

Suppression of opposition — political opponents, independent media, and dissent are often censored or repressed.

Militarism and glorification of force — military strength, discipline, and violence may be celebrated as tools of national renewal.

Limited political freedoms — democratic institutions and civil liberties are weakened or eliminated.

State control and coordination — while private property may remain, the state often exerts strong control over the economy and society.
