Following on from my whats over rated thread, what's under rated?

And it's obviously got to be something the majority of people will know - not a great little Italian in your village.

I'll start.

  1. Wing Stops (Don't usually like buffalo wings outside of The US - but these are great)

  2. McDonald's black coffee (Great quality coffee at a great price)

  3. Krispy Kreme donuts (Pure sugar, but taste great.)

Condensed milk.
I don't know what made me do it. But I bought a tube a couple of days ago.
It's so moreish. I've given up on the teaspoon and have taken to squeezing it straight into my conny onny hole

LuckyHazelFox · 11/06/2026 17:44

Jammy dodgers (originals)

Pickled onions from the chippy

Gabriel Bryne when he was a bit younger 😋

LuckyHazelFox · 11/06/2026 17:45

I know he's not a place but I wouldn't mind riding over Gabes 😆 😜

My grandad used to give us a small tin each. He pierced 2 holes in it - one on each side - so we could suck it out. It’s what he did as a child 80 odd years earlier. Happy memories.

Detergent sheets - clean just as well, take up fair less space in the cupboard and use much less plastic - also smell amazing!

Searchingforabunny · 11/06/2026 17:49

Forest of Dean
Guylian seashells
Own brand malted milk with chocolate

LilacDrift · 11/06/2026 17:56

Greggs Coffee.

I only mentioned these to DH yesterday. Which ones do you use?
I tend to use Tesco non-bio powder for whites and capsules for colours, but want to go more eco-friendly.

Dr Beckmann - they're available in Tesco and Sainsburys - and they come in bio and non-bio too. They're honestly really very good. I bought them on a whim (probably there was a shelf discount offered!) and now I don't think I will ever go back. No getting to the bottom of the liquid capsule bag and finding one that has just randomly decided to 'wee' all over the others! They smell amazing, honestly!

SalmonofUnwisdom · 11/06/2026 18:21

@Searchingforabunny

Shhhh. Don't tell people about the Forest of Dean.

BurnoutBee · 11/06/2026 18:22

Organ meats and especially liver.

Sure, they’re not the tastiest but they’re dirt cheap and are probably the most nutrient dense foods on the planet.

I love Krispy Cremes but make sure the box is sealed and not in the little unit cos folks touch em 🤮🤢🤮🤢

Screamingabdabz · 11/06/2026 20:42

McDonald’s porridge is sublime. God knows what’s in it (just oats and semi skimmed milk according to the tub) but it’s brilliant. I’ve had ones from Leon, Costa and lots of hotels but none get it as 😗👌🏼

You're welcome - hope they're a good find for you. I am a convert! Also you can take them away on holiday so easily and use them in a sink to do 'on the go' washing if you need to - no faffing! Cut them in half and pack a couple in case you're away for a while and need to wash your smalls or whatever!

Is it not a liquid? Are they selling it already turned into the soft toffee stuff? I used to love boiling cans of it to make banofee pie. I might need to buy some.

RedgooseberryBeehive · 11/06/2026 22:39

Tinned sardines

PreachyPie · 12/06/2026 07:07

Wetherspoons.

It was pouring with rain yesterday and I had some time to kill between appointments, I needed somewhere warm and dry to wait, and get something to eat.

I had a jacket potato with tuna. Served with lots of fresh salad and unlimited coffee to drink, all for under £5. I honestly couldn't fault it. The couple on the next table both commented how nice it looked.

Gateappreciation · 12/06/2026 07:13

M and S chocolate Swiss roll dessert - the chilled one with fresh cream. Delicious.

PersephoneParlormaid · 12/06/2026 07:16

McDonald’s really does the best coffee, I agree. Better than Starbs, Costa, Nero, M&S etc.

Gateappreciation · 12/06/2026 07:16

Footpaths - we have thousands of miles of them across the country. You can walk along them, and within minutes be in the countryside.

I grew up calling it conny onny milk too!

concentrated disinfectant, especially the brands Astonish in lemon. Fill up a bowl with water, add a little product. Smells amazing can take around the house from room to room for cleaning surfaces. Only £1! No bulky plastic spray to house and recycle… I don’t find it to be as sticky either as the sprays… doesn’t seem to be in fashion but works a treat.
