Following on from my whats over rated thread, what's under rated?

And it's obviously got to be something the majority of people will know - not a great little Italian in your village.

I'll start.

  1. Wing Stops (Don't usually like buffalo wings outside of The US - but these are great)

  2. McDonald's black coffee (Great quality coffee at a great price)

  3. Krispy Kreme donuts (Pure sugar, but taste great.)

Wetherspoons.

It was pouring with rain yesterday and I had some time to kill between appointments, I needed somewhere warm and dry to wait, and get something to eat.

I had a jacket potato with tuna. Served with lots of fresh salad and unlimited coffee to drink, all for under £5. I honestly couldn't fault it. The couple on the next table both commented how nice it looked.

Seconded as this was what I was going to post.

Leeds.

Actually there were both rice and pasta in the medieval period in England.... They were just expensive and not terrible common. Bread was the staple carb though :-)

Bahlsen chocolate biscuits and my latest discovery is a chocolate bar called Coffee Duo. So nice if you like anything coffee flavoured. It's from Tesco's and it's £3.75 a bar. A bit pricey, but so worth it!

i guess we just ate bread. No rice or pasta either 😂

I agree about Wetherspoons. DH and I used to love their curry club.
Also like McD coffee - great value.
and daffodils yes! Great shout.
I will add - some plug in night lights I got from Amazon about 12 years ago when DC were toddlers. Stilll going strong.

Sorry, this was in response to the above! Food history geek, less good with tech 😉

Was going to post about rice and pasta in medieval times but see @Acommonwomble got there first. Such a weird thought, no potatoes.

For me: ASDA fresh desserts, especially the caramel choux buns with cream and custard - they're always bursting with filling where most versions are half-empty disappointments. The custard tart is nice too. Much posher than you'd think for the price and tastes like real ingredients, not that weird oily/floury taste you get from some cheap pastry.

Morrisons own-brand baby clothes (Nutmeg). Even the name makes me smile and they're reliably cute and durable.

Would also rate Dr Beckmans.

@Ladymuffinsmy DD5 seems to love those Scrub Daddy things. She swipes them from under the kitchen sink to play with. I don’t even know why we bought them to start with, but they seem to have found a home in her toy box.

Germany.

A fantastic country to visit for a holiday. Great cities with loads of interesting stuff to see & do and loads of history to discover. Stunning scenery, particularly in the south. The weather in the south is much better than the U.K., probably because Munich is further south than Paris. Delicious food. Friendly locals who are very happy to show off their English skills. And the beer isn’t bad, either.

You could be me! I’m just back from Munich for the second time. Magnificent city, surrounding area and infrastructure. I’m blown over and impressed by their organisation and really just how much better things are - visible policing, clean streets, great transport. And don’t talk about the architecture….
The people are great too. I’m thinking about going back on an extended stay. Love the place!

McDonald’s really does the best coffee, I agree. Better than Starbs, Costa, Nero, M&S etc.

Their hot chocolate is also pretty nice!
