Following on from my whats over rated thread, what's under rated?

And it's obviously got to be something the majority of people will know - not a great little Italian in your village.

I'll start.

  1. Wing Stops (Don't usually like buffalo wings outside of The US - but these are great)

  2. McDonald's black coffee (Great quality coffee at a great price)

  3. Krispy Kreme donuts (Pure sugar, but taste great.)

Potatoes! I love them in any shape or form.

💯

Dorothyperky · 13/06/2026 08:18

Woolite. I wash my £300 New York trousers in it. Never had an issue.
Sainsbury's skin on chips. DH prefers them to any other.
Chopped frozen onions. I'm never chopping an onion again!

FuckYouAndYourEggAndSpoonRace · 13/06/2026 08:38

Leamington Spa. Amazing parks, friendly pubs, good local shops, cheery people, wonderful architecture, riverside walks (you can walk to Warwick along the river) fab cafes and quick train hops to other interesting places.

Ghostofborleyrectory · 13/06/2026 08:46

Shrewsbury! Incredible Tudor architecture, huge range of excellent independent restaurants and shops, ancient pubs and beautiful surroundings. Would move there in a second if I could but settle for going a few times a year.

Dr Beckmans Carpet Stain Remover with the brush lid. It works on everything.

Not pen or cat poo stains

GlitteriestFluff · 13/06/2026 08:54

Cheap washing up liquid. Dilute as usual and use for cleaning anything, pretty much. Better than window cleaner (and brings up mirrors beautifully), bathroom cleaner, kitchen cleaner and carpet cleaner for most stains.

Don't use it on floors though as it can be a bit slippery. I also prefer wood polish to using it on wood, but if there's lots of dirt then I clean with washing up liquid first then polish after.

Yorkshire Tea - Gold blend. Can’t drink anything else now.

1dayatatime · 13/06/2026 09:02

Another for McDonalds coffee
Tesco own brand bakes beans
Tinned peaches in syrup
York
South Wales - west of Cardiff.

Ladymuffins · 13/06/2026 09:04

La Roche Posay skincare. Not cheap cheap but much better on my skin than pricier brands (and I have used many, including La Prairie!).
Scrub daddy scourers. They last forever.
Sainsbury's frozen berries - for smoothies, crumbles...
M&S cleaning products

milkandblackspiders · 13/06/2026 09:24

The bakery bread from Lidl is way better than the other supermarkets, also the bakery cookies and brownies.

The coffee at my local Greggs is better than costa and half the price.

Morrison's cafe. Cheap, delicious and filling lunches.
I also like McDs coffee.

Edited

I've been to Anstruther fish bar more than once (multiple award winning chippy near St Andrews frequented by Wills, Kate and Camilla) and Morrisons fish is better than theirs, pity Morrisons chips are rubbish though.

Toddlerteaplease · 13/06/2026 21:13

McDonald’s coffee.

CaroleSP · 13/06/2026 21:33

The yellow spray bottle of 'Elbow Grease' is the best thing ever for degreasing anything. We sold our old kitchen units the tops of which were pretty disgusting & it cleaned them so quickly I was astounded. Cheap as chips in Home Bargains too.

Greggs Coffee.

Came on here to say this too

Sevenwondersofthewoo · 14/06/2026 12:02

Asdas own sausage rolls I just love em, they’re the only ones I buy can’t stand any others.

limetrees32 · 14/06/2026 12:08

Wetherspoons.

It was pouring with rain yesterday and I had some time to kill between appointments, I needed somewhere warm and dry to wait, and get something to eat.

I had a jacket potato with tuna. Served with lots of fresh salad and unlimited coffee to drink, all for under £5. I honestly couldn't fault it. The couple on the next table both commented how nice it looked.

My DC say this. Relied on Weatherspoons for cheap beer as students and say the food really is as good as anywhere else at half the price.

When you think that they only came over in the late 1500s...what on earth did we do until then??? I just cannot imagine pre-potato life in Europe. I think there was a lot of pease pudding unless you were wealthy.

And tomatoes too. What did the Italians do before tomatoes???

i guess we just ate bread. No rice or pasta either 😂

I agree about Wetherspoons. DH and I used to love their curry club.
Also like McD coffee - great value.
and daffodils yes! Great shout.
I will add - some plug in night lights I got from Amazon about 12 years ago when DC were toddlers. Stilll going strong.

TulipsAndPancakes · 13/06/2026 07:28

Love a Spoons jacket potato

Daffodils... a £ a bunch. Would rather have those then big fancy bouquets of £££ flowers

Daffodils are my favourite flowers in the whole entire world - I am Welsh, so I obviously love them doubly, but even if I wasn't, I can't think of a nicer, more uplifting little bloom. Little, glorious yellow/beige trumpets!

I disagree on Wetherspoons, perhaps it is just me but everything there always tastes like a really sloppy cheap ready meal. I really dislike Tim Martin for Brexit and the way he treated staff so that probably doesn't help!

Germany.

A fantastic country to visit for a holiday. Great cities with loads of interesting stuff to see & do and loads of history to discover. Stunning scenery, particularly in the south. The weather in the south is much better than the U.K., probably because Munich is further south than Paris. Delicious food. Friendly locals who are very happy to show off their English skills. And the beer isn’t bad, either.

Pootles34 · 14/06/2026 19:28

Barkeepers friend. So tough! Gets the scratches out of my porcelain sink and brilliant on the bottoms of pans.

Agree, this is brilliant. If Barkeepers Friend won't get it off nothing will.

My addition is crisp sandwiches. Has to be Warburtons super toastie bread and cheese and onion crisps.

Lemon juice for limescale removal. Better than any chemical remover.

Couldn't agree more. I went to Baden-Baden in February. I'm off to Trier and Cologne in October.
