'Fighting for Scotland myself'

I liked it when Janey Godley did her voice overs during covid

I am both surprised and not surprised that Murrell had not one single word of explanation to give in mitigating circumstances. He has definitely choosing to remain silent for whatever reason, and the most likely reason is to protect others.

Initially funny.

Latterly not so funny when they spaffed £10k on paying Ms Godley to do a cringey voiceover on an ad about covid "rippin' through like a wean at uh boofay"

But at least she was spot on with the clicky pen.

Sartre · 23/06/2026 14:30

I completely believe her. Went to see her talk at York uni a few weeks ago and she explained how it happened and how well he hid it, even from internal auditors. The police also didn’t recover the majority of it because they couldn’t locate it. She basically said they were both well paid and had no children, her job was high pressure obviously and so she sent him money towards the bills but let him deal with it. She’d notice some electrical items but think nothing of it because they were high earners so these things weren’t insane e.g the coffee machine.

She was hectically busy too so probably didn’t have much time for him. He hid the RV at his mum’s and I guess she didn’t visit. I don’t know why people are still doubting her when she’s been cleared after a thorough police investigation. Armchair detectives are clearly better than the actual trained ones…

Janey always had Sturgeon going off with the gals to a caravan...is that what she was talking about?!

Loved the frozen loaf one.

To misgender the immortal words of Mandy Rice Davis, she would say that, wouldn't she.

Do you believe her that she visited this house, while the campervan was parked there, and didn't see it?

'NEW: Police Scotland say they had “further questions” for Nicola Sturgeon after her no comment interview during her arrest. Senior cop says her written statement only answered “some points”. Sturgeon said she fully cooperated. Police say “people’s definition… is subjective”.'

When people like the SNP treasurer resigned because they were refused to see the accounts she, as the leader of the SNP, should have looked into the complaints, she didn't and she told others not to question the accounts. People told her something was wrong and she refused to listen.

Yep. Your relationship would have to be in a pretty bad way to not at that point say, 'Oh, has your Mum bought a motohome?'. Plus, at one point was there not talk of it being a campaign battle bus. Did they just go with that line while they got their stories straight?

Totally, that should have raised a whole communist party's worth of red flags.

I think it was believable until the point the journalist started asking questions leading to the treasurer and members of the finance & audit committee quitting because they were being blocked.

At that point even if you have full faith in your husband you say “give them the fucking books so this accusation doesn’t follow us both around you daft git!” and then if he refuses you need to start seeing issues.

The problem with Nicola Sturgeon isn’t so much the years of him thieving. His position did allow him a lot of access to hide it.

The problem is when questions started being raised she did nothing other than blindly back him. At that point she needed to do more as SNP leader. The fact she has never acknowledged that part is the bit that I think is unforgivable.

Being conned by a conman isn’t a shameful thing. He conned previous leaders and people as well. Failing to ensure proper transparency when issues were raised is shameful and is where she absolutely let SNP supporters down even if she didn’t previously know.

Her own finance team told her there was a problem, their own auditor refused to sign off the accounts so she apparently signed them. She's done a right number on you

All these threads laced with vitriol directed at Nicola are just proving the point that women in politics are subjected to a degree of hatred never directed at male politicians.

It's truly embarrassing the number of posters on a site which is supposed to be primarily for women and supportive of women are so obviously enjoying putting the boot into another woman.

Exactly and she was very thoroughly investigated and no charges were brought.

Unfortunately there are so many women with deeply internalised misogyny.

This is outing but much to our shock a close family friend was jailed for a similar amount of time for stealing a similar amount of money. His wife knew absolutely nothing, was completely disgusted with him and divorced him as soon as possible. Her husband had a good job and she thought they could afford their lifestyle.

It is desperately sad to see so many women desperate to throw another woman under the bus.

Let's face it, there's no shortage of threads on Mumsnet where men are hiding something from their partners. If anything, after spending any amount of time here, people should understand exactly how easily this kind of deceit happens but alas the cognitive dissonance abounds.

dapsnotplimsolls · 23/06/2026 21:36

She was the leader of the fecking party.

Men who are also the CEO of a party their spouse is the leader of?

I went to see her in...oh...Kidderminster. She completely 'fessed up, said she had no regrets and would do it again, but backwards, in heels 👠

The accounts were signed off by external auditors every year.
