Moment Dame Helen Mirren is called an 'evil Zionist b****' in London

The video, first posted by an anonymous account Anti-Fascist Action UK, shows the Oscar-winning actress being approached as she walked in London with her husband.

Obviously it is wrong to shout at elderly women.

I am disappointed in Helen Mirren if even 10% of this is true: https://www.reversecanarymission.org/person/helen-mirren

People are being driven mad because our government is weak on genocide and international human rights/criminal law, and is ok profiting from arms trade i.e. has an interest in people getting killed. They are acting individualistically because of the failure of moral leadership.

Labour has an antisemitism problem AND it is endangering Jewish people by pretending that all British Jews are pro-Israeli and that being soft on an extreme right warmongering state is the thing to do. Why don't they addres their own antisemitism?

And read some Torah.

I never saw people being driven mad becuase the government is weak on the Sudan genocide. Or the Congo genocide. Or actually any genocide ever. Seems a very selective madness.

And, no, Jews aren't endangered because Labour said they are pro israel. They are endangered because of anti semites

Maybe the Sudan and Congo genocides need to be televised.

Neither is upheld as a beacon of morality and democracy. Israel is.

Britain is terribly complicit in the current state of Israel.

The dehumanisation of Palestinians has been long and deliberate, like the dehumanisation of African Americans.

I would say it is part of lazy governmental antisemitism to lump together Jews and pro-Netanyahu's-Israel folk, yes.

Especially when nonJewish arms traders and rightwing pseudo Christian Zionists are such a big part of the problem and not called to account either but getting clean away and safe in the streets.

I think he just wanted to have a pop at Helen Mirren as he clearly doesn’t agree with her views, wouldn’t call it a protest, I’m presuming he saw her by chance?

He shouldn’t have approached her.

Ohh, of course. It.has to be televised for it to count! If a genocide happens and its not on tik tok, did it even happen?

ThisBirdOnThatRoof · 28/05/2026 14:39

And if it comes to people being driven mad by transgenerational trauma from genocide, aren't we are looking at it now in the militarisation of all Israeli youth and state 'defence' by massive killing?

See also extreme responses resulting from the lack of justice for the ongoing lynching of African Americans.

Also examples from South Asia e.g. Panjab, Kashmir, and Sri Lanka but am tired.

No my dear, I am answering your point as to why people are fussing about one genocide. There are images from it. Humans are visual and so we relate.

We need more insight into other atrocities and equal outrage.

Can you give an example of this apparent lazy governmental antisemitism?

(And even if every single Jew waa right wing and supported Netanyahu, it still wouldn't justify antisemitism but hey ho let's see what you got)

Yes, you do indeed. Not jsut what youre fed by tiktok and what's cool.

BTW, there's plenty of footage out there. From Congo, Sudan. From the Rohingya genocide too as well as others. Most people have phones and Internet of some sort these days. Its just you dont see it because the algorithms are pushed by engagement and we all know which country drives engagement.

Hate crimes, antisemitic or otherwise, are defined by the perceived identity of the victim and what has motivated the offender.
The victim's actual identity/orientation/pc is nether here nor there.

And your 'confusion' over the law, is irrelevant.

So do you know for a fact the offender was under the impression she was Jewish or simply that she is a zionist? Last time I checked those are different things.

I think its the motivation. Why is the perpetrator so concerned about someone being supportive of Jewish self determination? Are they bothered about any other national self determination? Why do they see supporting jewish self determination as a slur?

Twisterlollies · 28/05/2026 15:08

Because the Palestine mob are, underneath the Amazon Keffiyehs and blue hair, some of the worst most vile misogynists I’ve ever encountered. The rage and contempt that seethes in them for women is palpable, and if they get a whiff of a woman who doesn’t completely and unquestioningly agree with them, it’s like they go absolutely insane with anger and the most awful slurs come pouring out.

Probably because someone’s right to self determination can’t happen at the expense of the killing of others, I don’t know.

What do these idiots suggest Dame Helen Mirren's views should be then? Inhabitants of a now established state lie prostrate and allow the rape, murder and mutilation of their citizens? Do they think Dame Helen Mirren should advocate for the Israeli population to just give up on their state and submit themselves to the mercy of a Hamas led Palestine? For clarity, my own view is that Israeli bombing has likely gone too far and I support those calling for restraint and an effort to minimise civilian casualties. But I wholly support their efforts to defend themselves; and after hearing the content of the 7/10 videos, I praise them for not immediately reaching for the nuclear button.

In any case, why must public figure submit to an orthodoxy on every public matter or risk being harassed in the street?

I never use tiktok :) I work a lot with actual human people.

I just made some big points and do not want to engage in unpicking endless tiny misdirections, which is the form new silencing takes. A perversion of reasonable exchange.

There are much better keffiyehs on sale from fairtrade places! Try some.

Correct, it would not justify antisemitism but political protest would be just as justifiable as now, and wartime brutality with a heavy side of cultural erasure just as maddening.

Nope. No reason that Jewish self determination involves killing anyone actually. Thats not zionism.

The reason there is a conflict in Israel/Palestine where both sides kill each other is complex and shouting slurs does not suggest a wish to discuss and understand competing claims and disputes.

And there are many many other examples of where self determination of one people did involve killing others. Turkish, Greek, Pakistani etc. Yet there's no slur for anyone supporting a Pakistani state...

Yes you said that the reason the gaza conflict makes people so unbelievably angry is because they see it whereas they dont see Congo or Sudan. Well, there's plenty of footage out there. You're just not interested in it.

See post at 14.30 (an hour ago) for my take on this and then use ecosia or Google or whatever to check governmental discourse and individual politicians for examples.

If I give you an example you will pick at something else.

Who in government said/did what and when that you think is antisemitic. Thats what a real example looks like.
