Nicola Sturgeon didn't know her husband stole £400,000

Imdunfer · 25/05/2026 21:03

Really? She lived with this guy and didn't know? She had a camper van parked on the drive and didn't know he stole the money to buy it?

I don't buy it.

Custody wars. Who would have them for Christmas?!?

They will probably have to take turns with the full set: it seems they will both need them for their turkey basting purposes.

I don't understand why they didn't get a divorce. Attitudes have moved on a bit!

Political reasons I guess. “If you can lie so easily about something so fundamental, what else can you lie about out?…”

It’s called “Complete Cover Up”. You lay it on thick

Brilliant 🤣

In all seriousness though, NS is just such a huge, huge disappointment. As is the SNP generally. I've no doubt that there has been a cover up involving a fair few SNP high ups. It seems totally unfathomable that as his boss (never mind his wife) that NS wouldn't be aware of the issues with the finances and what was happening. What a disgrace and sadly it seems that PM will be the fall guy for a lot of people, not just his former wife and boss.

I'm embarrassed to say I was taken in and some of my membership money probably went towards those bloody salt and pepper shakers.

Apparently she "never went into the kitchen"........🤔🤣

Her own kitchen. Never needed a glass of water, cup of tea (or coffee! 😄) piece of toast, bit of cheese from the fridge. Nothing. Never went in there.

Cue photos of them both in said kitchen doing interviews. 🙄

Plus a previous poster linked to an article showing the video interview she did with Suzanne Reid literally showing her in her kitchen beside the embezzled coffee machine...

Never been in your kitchen Nicola, aye?! 🤔

Thiswasanescapeplan · 29/05/2026 16:00

She contradicted herself here. Which one is it?

PETE DOES THE COOKIN I DAE THE BOOKS

Who cooks the books?

ByGraptharsHammer · 29/05/2026 16:36

Well it may be small comfort but it’s pretty clear this story is not over and in due course someone will write a book about it as they did for Jeremy Thorpe. And a possible BBC Scotland adaptation.

I look forward to “The Motorhome of Numpties; a Gey Scottish Scandal”.

I hope the Scottish opposition parties join together to keep the pressure on the SNP, Sturgeon, Swinney et al

There absolutely should be an independent inquiry into how the SNP corrupted the political system and the implications for the once independent Scottish judiciary and Police Scotland.

The timing of Murrell’s plea post Scottish election is outrageous.

On Debate Night on Wednesday evening, an SNP voter told Alyn Smith the particularly smarmy MP for Stirling, that she wouldn’t have voted for him had she known about the Murrell plea pre election.
Did he care? Not a jot.
He trotted out the stock phrases they’ve all been told in their media training.

Alyn Smith has taken voters for absolute mugs as has the entire SNP machine.
Sturgeon, Murrell, Swinney, Yousaf have taken the Scottish population for fools and sadly for reasons best known to themselves, folk have still voted for them

For the first time in my life, I feel embarrassed about Scotland.
The whole country is a laughing stock.

Rhetoric built on nothing.
So ‘progressive’ but a failing education system, a govt obsessed with trans issues, a complete lack of interest in how to build the economy, create wealth (which is now a dirty word apparently), secrecy and dishonesty at all levels.

All the while, claiming a moral high ground, Scots are better, friendlier, more open, care more and the dreaded word ‘progressive’.

I’m struggling to see how any of this is true.

Oh, and before we get all misty eyed about how amazing Scottish football fans are in the run up to the World Cup, perhaps someone in the Scottish Govt could grow a pair and finally sort out the Old Firm matches and the hideous violence in Glasgow.

All the while, Sturgeon is out there promoting her wretched book.
It’s mind boggling.

Arguably there was a focus on wealth creation at times...

Sadly not for the benefit of the whole of Scotland.

An interesting article from The Times. Unbelievably, Murrell qualified for legal aid. I have tried to post this as a share token article but if it doesn’t work, copy the link and paste it into archive ph or archive today to read it for free. This is a brilliant resource to access any article behind a paywall.

PaterPower · 29/05/2026 18:18

I’m surprised he’s chosen to take the whole hit here.

Either he’s mind-bogglingly loyal (particularly if the marriage was just a political convenience, as even her supporters are now quietly suggesting) or Nicola’s holding some pretty damning ace cards.

JSMill · 29/05/2026 18:45

@OtherlandsI also feel embarrassed and worried about the state of Scotland and how it’s governed. We live down south. I have always encouraged my DCs to considering moving to Scotland because of the cheaper house prices but I wouldn’t want them to move now, sadly.

dapsnotplimsolls · 29/05/2026 18:47

She's been whining at the Hay Festival today. Nic's Victim Tour.

AInightingale · 29/05/2026 19:17

Would be interesting to hear Murrell's version. He's already going to do jail time so he hasn't much to lose.

After a separation, these devious little pacts have a nasty habit of blowing up on the couple. Thinking of Chris Huhne and Vicky Price who both served time for conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. Didn't she approach a journalist to get her 'revenge' when they split up? Rather foolishly in her case.

JustAnotherWhinger · 29/05/2026 19:33

If I was the leader of one of the other parties, and was confident in my party set up, I’d be announcing that we were having a finance review in the light of Murrell’s guilty plea. To double check and make sure that what happened to SNP supporters hard earned cash simply couldn’t happen in my party because of the checks and balances in place.

Then watch Swinney try and explain why he wasn’t prepared to do the same, in particular highlighting the fact that they even currently have the same treasurer as managed to be conned by Murrell…

ProudDada · 29/05/2026 20:19

I’ve always wondered why the support for the SNP is so strong, when their ex leaders always end up disgraced.
