Nicola Sturgeon didn't know her husband stole £400,000

Really? She lived with this guy and didn't know? She had a camper van parked on the drive and didn't know he stole the money to buy it?

I don't buy it.

Z listers is a bit harsh. Mhairi Black got a lot of attention as the youngest MP. Kezia was high profile as Scottish Labour leader. And of course Ruth Davidson was very high profile and always very open about her sexuality. (Scottish Tories are still sticking her face on election communications - she's clearly still considered an asset!)

Iceland was the first to have a gay PM, back in 2009.

There have been gay leaders since in Ireland, Belgium, France, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Serbia. Most of these were during the 2010s (Varadkar started in Ireland in 2017, that was in the UK and a historically more conservative country than Scotland), before Sturgeon left office in 2023, though the French one was in 2024 and the Dutch one this year

Ireland isn’t or wasn’t in the UK when Varadkar was Taoiseach?

What foundation does Sturgeon use?

'£886 worth of Studio Fix foundation makeup'

That is an enormous amount to buy! He wasn't using it or was he?! Was the women's underwear in his size?

She’s been investigated and cleared.
It is widely understood that their marriage wasn’t a ‘real’ marriage. Married in law only.

I don't understand why they didn't get a divorce. Attitudes have moved on a bit!

It’s called “Complete Cover Up”. You lay it on thick

Just a wild guess but they'd need to split assets 50/50 or whatever and have two teams of lawyers rake over their finances...

I was wondering that. Were there any wigs bought with the money?

Imagine the battle over the £2.5K Lalique cruet set: who would get the pepper grinder and who the salt?

Custody wars. Who would have them for Christmas?!?

ThePieceHall · 29/05/2026 14:40

Speaking of imagining things, has anyone else here conjured up the image of JKR luxuriating on her super yacht while puffing on a finest Cuban cigar as she celebrates the fall from grace of her arch nemesis? Heck, I bet even JKR doesn’t even have a Lalique crystal grinder set.

I don't think being gay would hold back a politician now any more than it held back Leo Varadkar in 2017 or the others. It might have been different in 2014 when she took on the role. But even then, there had been gay leaders in Belgium, Iceland and Luxembourg by 2014.

Really? I am sceptical about that TBH, why did NS continue the pantomime for nearly another ten years in that case, only to get (surprise surprise) divorced after stepping down from the role? No one in Scotland was fooled, the show was for international, mainly American audiences IMO.

Nicola Sturgeon is now saying that attacks on her are motivated by sexism.
I choked on my tea when I read that.
Hypocrisy at It’s finest from someone who doesn’t recognise biology.

Yes, people just can"t take any responsibility for their actions can they, it is always some "ism" to blame now.

You forgot the £5,800 on coffee machines!

Apparently she "never went into the kitchen"........🤔🤣

Her own kitchen. Never needed a glass of water, cup of tea (or coffee! 😄) piece of toast, bit of cheese from the fridge. Nothing. Never went in there.

Cue photos of them both in said kitchen doing interviews. 🙄
