Thank you. I'd heard that rumour, but she was only ambassador for 3 years to Scotland (2019-2022). She can't have lived with Sturgeon that long, and certainly doesn't appear to be now.

Is there any evidence Colonna is lesbian or bi anyway? I can't find anything in French or English about her relationships .

I do think Sturgeon is probably bi at least, gay very possibly.

But I'm also a bit sceptical of X narratives about her love life. The McDermid suspicions feel especially unlikely: it feels a bit male fantasy to assume 2 lesbians (one married to a woman long term) being friends, and one briefly staying with the other after a breakup (I may be wrong but I don't think Sturgeon seems to have stayed long term and she's clearly not there now) means they must be having an affair.

The Colonna thing may be true but I'd want more evidence.

Arguably anyway the relationships she has or hasn't had with women aren't that important. But it is of some significance whether the Peter marriage was fake and intended to protect him and/or her, especially if he has groomed young men (hopefully not...)

Iceland was the first to have a gay PM, back in 2009.

There have been gay leaders since in Ireland, Belgium, France, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Serbia. Most of these were during the 2010s (Varadkar started in Ireland in 2017, that was in the UK and a historically more conservative country than Scotland), before Sturgeon left office in 2023, though the French one was in 2024 and the Dutch one this year

I don't think being gay would hold back a politician now any more than it held back Leo Varadkar in 2017 or the others. It might have been different in 2014 when she took on the role. But even then, there had been gay leaders in Belgium, Iceland and Luxembourg by 2014.
