To ask what water bottle you use?

I have to admit im guilty of buying a plastic water bottle, using it to death and then buying another.

but with this heat at the moment and a holiday coming up, I want a genuinely good, portable water bottle that will keep ice cold all day. My idea is to fill it with ice water in the morning and then refill through the day, hopefully with ice still in it.

At home I use a Stanley cup which keeps it cold all day, but is far too big to travel with! I’m thinking 500-750ml, and quite portable? Does anyone have any recommendations?

Super Sparrow (Amazon)

ShootsAndBoots · 25/05/2026 12:53

Another vote for yeti

I have a Super Sparrow bottle, @DriveVerySlowlyPastNumber23IWantThemToSeeMyHat (I love your nickname, btw), and it’s not insulated, but is a very good bottle otherwise. If they do insulated ones, I’m sure they would be just as good.

Calmondeck · 25/05/2026 12:58

I swear by Hydroflask. Have had mine 7 yrs and hasn’t leaked once. Depends which European country you’re going to - France, Italy, Switzerland you’re going to find fountains everywhere.

AgnesMcDoo · 25/05/2026 13:00

I use water bottles I pick up a conferences

Silverbirchleaf · 25/05/2026 13:09

Another vote for Yeti. Not cheap, but they’re superb.

I have this one and absolutely love it for my hikes. Keeps water pretty cold too. I can only use insulated as I like my water cold. Tempted to buy a second one for walks.

I don’t think any of these will keep ice in tact. Unless you freeze the bottle itself: www.instagram.com/reel/DGjwEnpPXtG/?igsh=Nmc0Z3RjZ284eXVn

Thankyou! If only Royal Doulton did water bottles 🤪

Super Sparrow do insulated bottles - look on Amazon 😊

This one:
Triple Insulated Stainless Steel Water Bottle with Straw Flip Top Lid 750ml | eBay UK

It comes with three types of top (straw, sippy, and remove top to drink), and keeps drinks amazingly cold. I normally in hot weather freeze about the bottom third, and most of that is still frozen at the end of a very hot day - unless I leave it in direct sunlight.

My Stanley cup does, but it’s 1.2L and a cup, so I can’t carry it round!

I’ve got a Sho sports bottle and it’s brilliant.
I left it in the sun yesterday and it was almost too hot to hold but the water was still icy cold.

OneOrangeBulb · 25/05/2026 14:13

At home I use a Chillys or Tesco Stanley dupe, but find them both quite large and clunky for taking around with me so I also have a smaller Ion8 bottle for the gym or days out.

WildFlowerBees · 25/05/2026 14:20

We have Bottle Bottle large ones, think they’re 950ml keeps my water really cool also has a pill box screwed into the bottom.

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 25/05/2026 14:22

I currently have a Le Cruset one because I like the wide opening, its very good for keeping things v cool but the best one I've had is the Chillys one, I bought one for each parent and Dad regularly leaves his outside for a full day and the ice is still floating in it, they're fantastic tbh

ThreeStripeQueen · 25/05/2026 14:30

I’ve got the 500ml sho newt and an old style stanley ice flow which is bigger maybe 800ml but not huge.

Quokkas · 25/05/2026 14:42

I have a Chilly’s 500ml water bottle: https://www.chillys.com/collections/bottles. I got it last summer and love it!! It’s a bit pricey - £28 - but I use it all the time and it keeps the water in it really cold.

ETA: it’s small enough to fit into an A4-size handbag. And if I add ice into it, it often keeps the water in it cold enough so there’s still ice in there a few hours later.

Sistema large one.

Tarkan · 25/05/2026 14:43

I have a Stanley cup that must be around 500-600ml as I can fit a normal bottle of water in it with a little space for ice if I’m on the go (I usually fill it at home first so I’ve never had to properly measure it). The handle is across the top rather than on the side so that’s actually why I bought it as it’s easier for me to carry (the others end up too awkward and heavy for me as I have issues with dropping things if they’re too heavy for my wrists).

I can fill it with iced water when going to bed and still have some of the ice cubes rattling away when I wake up and need a drink hours later. 😁

Fallon79 · 25/05/2026 11:59

I got a sistema one in Asda yesterday, not too big and it’s lightweight. The one I had before was far too heavy. The plastic ones start to smell after a while even after scrubbing so I wouldn’t recommend those ones

My sistema plastic one has never smelled.

Ninja Thirsti (I have the bigger one and smaller one) and have used for hot and cold. Does what it says tbh 😀 had ours for over a year now and except the odd little scratch where kid's haven't been as careful, they're still good as new (not stained, easy to clean, removable rubbers, not smelly 😉)

Sure there are others out there but I'm happy with my investment (they go on offer frequently if not as bothered on colour!) 😀

I have a Stanley ice flow tumbler in the 0.89l size but they do come in smaller. It’s great for out and about and drinks stay icy cold. I’ve not found anything to top the Stanley for keeping drinks cold.

I have a 500ml Chilly bottle in a lovely Emma Bridgewater design. I have had it for 8 years and use it most days. I give it a drop of bleach soak once a week and it has never smelt. Water stays ice cold and it is leak proof.

baguettefan · 25/05/2026 15:26

Sho insulated bottles have stood the test of time for us.

ToffeePennie · 25/05/2026 15:39

I use a cheap purple plastic one I got for something like £1 from Primark. It doesn’t keep the water cold or anything but it does hydrate me and after a couple hours needs refilling with fresh cold water anyway.
