To ask what water bottle you use?

I have to admit im guilty of buying a plastic water bottle, using it to death and then buying another.

but with this heat at the moment and a holiday coming up, I want a genuinely good, portable water bottle that will keep ice cold all day. My idea is to fill it with ice water in the morning and then refill through the day, hopefully with ice still in it.

At home I use a Stanley cup which keeps it cold all day, but is far too big to travel with! I’m thinking 500-750ml, and quite portable? Does anyone have any recommendations?

I use a sho one and it’s brilliant at keeping drinks cold. I fill it with ice and water and it still has ice in it 12hrs later. I just top it up throughout the day

I got a sistema one in Asda yesterday, not too big and it’s lightweight. The one I had before was far too heavy. The plastic ones start to smell after a while even after scrubbing so I wouldn’t recommend those ones

Owala is the best one I’ve ever had. And I’ve had a LOT of water bottle. Stays cool. Doesn’t leak. Not stupidly big. I like the sip or pour option. Winner all round for me.

cocog · 25/05/2026 12:05

We have had sho or ion8 stainless steel ones both are brilliant.

TheChiffchaff · 25/05/2026 12:06

These.
They are brilliant. Metal, not too massive, completely leak proof, no spouts or straws which are difficult to clean and pleasant to drink from.

buymeflowers · 25/05/2026 12:06

Owala, but I prefer the kids size as it’s a bit neater and still big enough

shuffleofftobuffalo · 25/05/2026 12:07

Another vote for SHO!

cravingicedwater · 25/05/2026 12:08

SHO looks good - how portable is the 750ml? I’m really conscious of the amount of water I drink

I have a chilly and my ds both have Sho bottles. All are good and dont leak in the bag, and come in different sizes.
Last year I also found an ice cube tray where you can make long thin ice bits that fit into the the neck of water bottles. Game changer for school! Just google water bottle ice cube tray or similar and some should come up.

I've had a "stay sixty"one for years. Really good, keeps cool for ages. Love how easy it is to clean as you can unscrew the bottom.

Toddlerteaplease · 25/05/2026 12:14

Platypus for work and an ion8 for going out. It’s pink worn unicorns on it. Luke is too short for boring bottles.

Topbird29 · 25/05/2026 12:14

I find the 500ml bottles are a good size. We all use rucksacks and they fit well. 750 would be too big for us, but we can refill easily in the day.

GrumpyInsomniac · 25/05/2026 12:15

I have a Chilly’s bottle that is excellent at keeping things cold. Also a Ninja Thirsti which is similarly good but also designed very well if you just want to chuck it in the dishwasher to clean. The Chilly’s will also wash in the dishwasher but I usually back that up with a quick brush clean in the lid because the design makes me a little paranoid about lurking microbes if I don’t.

And because I’m starting speech therapy, I’ve had to get one with a suitable straw for some of the exercises, so I’ve picked up a SuperSparrow one that I am surprised to find I really like. It’s also insulated and I’ve picked the 1l version, but they have smaller sizes as well. This one is also fine in the dishwasher, but because of the straw and sippy bit, I hand wash those parts.

Of the 3, I think the SuperSparrow is the cheapest: I got mine on a deal on Amazon. You can use it without the straw, too, just to sip on.

Do Sistema do non plastic bottles then?

Bitzee · 25/05/2026 12:17

We have the Yeti ones. They’re so well insulated if you forget about it in the bottom of your bag the ice will still be frozen the next day.

My only concern is being out and about in Europe, im not sure if they have water taps more common than we do in the UK? I plan to be out everyday from early until quite late and don’t want to get dehydrated or have to spend tons on water each day

Yes they do metal ones also

FieryA · 25/05/2026 12:31

I have the Ion8 500 ml. Insulated. Not heavy.

NellieJean · 25/05/2026 12:35

Le Creuset. It keeps water cold for 24 hours,

mambojambodothetango · 25/05/2026 12:44

The ikea metal ones with colourful screw lids

mindutopia · 25/05/2026 12:47

I have a Yeti flask. It’s fantastic. Keeps water cool even in my car which is currently baking at 40c. It also keeps hot drinks hot for hours and hours.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 25/05/2026 12:48

Contigo cups are good - mine keeps coffee hot for hours, even when it isn’t full any more, so I assume it would be equally good at keeping your water cold, @cravingicedwater.
