You can check land ownership on land registry too

Then there’s all the people who marry someone and become famous through that - Rosie Ramsey, Emma Willis, Gio Fletcher, Greg wise travis kelce, Bobby (Katherine Ryan’s husband)

Who is she related too?

She's Brian Cranston's daughter!

Candace Bergen's daughter Chloe Malle just stepped up to head Vogue.

Chloe Malle's father is French director Louis (he also did some acting). Definitely no one "normal" could have stepped into Wintour's shoes at US Vogue.

Surprised no-one has mentioned Lily Rose Depp.

Nor Isabella Rossellini.

Talia Shire is another Coppola, Francis' sister, mother of Jason Schwartman.

George Clooney aunt is Rosemary Clooney. He's also cousin to actor Miguel Ferrer.

Would Kate Moss' daughter Lila even be considered a model without her famous mother??

boxtop · 05/05/2026 10:16

Diane Morgan seems to be everywhere...oh right, she's married to the head of BBC comedy.

Bertiebiscuit · 05/05/2026 10:21

"Nepo babies" has always been a thing, but in the past i think most of them tried to hide it by using a different surname. Not so much these days as it seems only Nepo babies get on.

GingerBeverage · 05/05/2026 10:25

Noah and Jacobi Jupe are sons of Katy Cavanagh (actress) and Chris Jupe (film maker).

Of course there is a benefit in dad and/or mum already having agents and casting contacts.

babyproblems · 05/05/2026 10:32

Also did not know until now that her mum was Goldie Hawn!!! Omg

Yes she has. For Working Girl. I thought she was very good in that. I'm not saying she's a great actress normally but loads of good actors have won or been nominated for a Razzie

Ahhh we are talking mixed up here! I was referring to Dakota Johnson as terrible acting and no Oscar! Misread from the top!

I don’t think Melanie Griffiths is much better mind!

My daughter is currently applying to drama school and has dreams of becoming an actor. We have no connections to anyone in any of the performing or creative arts, so she will have to do it all on her own merit. Reading this thread is quite depressing.

There have definitely been people from normal backgrounds who have made it - I think it’s just harder to break in if you don’t have those connections.

I heard John Simm on a podcast talking about his upbringing; very much working class, got into drama school and went from there.

Matthew Rhys is another one, I think his parents were teachers - he just auditioned for Rada and got in. It is still possible, but more difficult I suppose.

If she’s going to drama school they should help her with getting an agent etc.

Roy Kinnear from C and the C Factory 1971, father of Rory Kinnear (spitting image of him)

Actor and singer, David Dundas, of the Blue Jeans/Jeans On song, lovely man, quietly spoken, now aged 80, is actually Lord David Paul Nicholas Dundas.

Dad was Lawrence Aldred Mervyn Dundas, 3rd Marquess of Zetland, and mum was Penelope Pike (Katherine Mary Penelope Pike), Marchioness of Zetland!

@MimiGC , there are lots of actors who didn't have contacts when they started out. If your DD is talented she'll make it.

CollaterlieSistersSister · 05/05/2026 11:57

I recall reading somewhere that, when he is involved in casting, Stephen Graham tries to make sure that as much of the cast as possible are non-nepo and from non-privileged backgrounds.

Although (quoting myself!) his wife does turn up in a lot of the same stuff as him, either on screen or behind it - or both.

Do you blame him?

There are people in the UK who were educated privately and do normal jobs. I know one who is a nurse and another who works in HR (admittedly for a large corporation and is very well paid). That doesn’t mean private education doesn’t offer an advantage due to small class sizes, more tailored teaching and, more importantly, fostering connections.

Some of these privately educated actors may not be from a rich industry family themselves, but they are well connected (they likely went to school with someone who knows someone…).

Fee-paying schools are different in Ireland because they’re usually much cheaper than their UK counterparts (as the government pays the teachers).

Would Kate Moss' daughter Lila even be considered a model without her famous mother??

Nope. She's not even particularly tall. That alone would put her outside of consideration at the first hurdle.

I'm not sure any of the 'nepo models' would make it on their own merits, even though height and looks - unlike say, acting talent or sporting ability - are highly hereditable. Sure, the likes of Kaia Gerber or Lily Rose Depp are pretty, but there are so so many pretty girls out there. All of them lack that special something their parents have.

I hope she does. However, the reality is that the vast vast majority of actors never 'make it' in the sense of ever being able to make a living from their craft. Being talented is not enough in a highly competitive profession.

Kaia Gerber has that special something. Lila Moss does too but not in the way her mother has.

I know that nepotism in the acting world is endemic, but I hate it when parents or children make excuses such as 'Oh, but being related to X only opens the door for you - you then have to prove yourself!'

That's just the point - what most young performers need is just to have the door opened for them. It's like so many nice jobs - lots of us (or our children) could defnitely DO them, but could we GET them??

I don't know if this is still true, but a friend who worked in publishing in the early 2000s told me that magazine publishing was extremely hard to get into and for book publishing - you just had to know someone and get an introduction. It may have changed, but there are so many 'industries' which are effectively closed to ordinary Joes and Joannas.

I just wish everyone involved would be honest about this.

I think Kaia Gerber is extremely bland. Pretty, but I'd struggle to pick her out of a line up of Insta models. I also think she looks much more like her father. Her brother Presley is the male version of Cyndy.

BleedinglyObvious · 05/05/2026 13:59

@IcedPurple , Well she looks plain next to me but I guessed I'm blessed.
