About 20 years ago when I was at Uni, I lived opposite a LIDL (back when you had to find a carboard box to carry your stuff around!). They used to do a Ristorante Frutti Di Mare frozen pizza (I think it was 2 in a box) and it still pisses me off that it was discontinued. It wasn't just prawns, it had mussels and other stuff (possibly olives) on it. I still think about the bastard things today and I just thought there must be others who have their long lost foods.

Others for me are Brannigans crisps and more recently, Fries To Go! Oh how I could demolish some Fries To Go right now!

Proper Club biscuits when they were the original size and had loads of choice on them.

About 25 years ago M&S had this hoi sin chicken soup that came with a pot on top with noodles and pak choi on top that you added into the soup. My mum got it for me a few times and it was heavenly but I think it was only around for a brief time. I have a vivid memory of being off sick from school as a teen, watching Shakespeare in Love in bed and eating that delicious soup.

Also I might be imagining it but I swear Pret used to do a dimebar cheesecake. I’m sure I had one the very first time I went to a Pret as a kid and I sometimes still find myself looking for it on the shelves even though (if it even existed) it can’t have been on the menu for at least 20 years.

Cigarette sweets...sticks of white sugary candy with a red end in a box similar to a packet of cigarettes
Everyone remembers those, but no one ever remembers chocolate cigars. Fatter than candy cigarettes (obviously), terrible powdery cheap chocolate, wrapped in a purplish paper stamped with cigar-a-like pics and wording.

Smiths’ crisps with the blue twist of salt inside, so you could sprinkle your own, from the 1960s and ‘70s.

Tesco’s have the proper chip-sticks at about £1 for a large bag, my favourite.

There used to be one of them in an installation in the Gallery of Modern Art in Glasgow. I think it was inside an open suitcase. It is long gone now, but I think it was the last time I saw one of those and I still miss them.

Nope, they don't have them on my version of the website. Just the Smiths Salt and Vinegar ones.

When i was a kid my mum used to buy these mini sausage rolls except instead of sausage in the middle it was a really creamy white mixture which had carrots peas and sweetcorn in. I have never found them as an adult and often think of them. They may have been Iceland

And the Vesta Chow Mein, with those special crispy fried noodles! I thought they were the height of sophisticated cosmopolitan eating!

Still on sale. I have them delivered by Tesco or Ocado and hidd them in a cupboard my husband doesn't open... 😉

Walnut whips are still around but I'm not sure if they still have the walnut on top.

Mighty White bread, soft white bread with big flecks of wheat or seeds or something in it, absolutely delicious for a cheese sandwich!
