I'm not going in there again, @GiorgioArmageddi .

The person who asked me to get the drinks is really nice and his colleague is too. He couldn't go because he was too busy. He's a bit of a cheeky chappie but in a nice way.

May be so but he’s a bloody pervert. Isn’t he a vicar or priest’s son too?

moto748e · 03/05/2026 14:38

A bishop, even!

Reading the article it states that the Beeb didnt report it to the police.
Could the victim not have reported it themselves?

That's what I was thinking. Surely if it was this serious the woman in question would have reported it? Why would you allow your employer to cover this up and let the man off the hook?

It makes me wonder if they were in a relationship. I can't imagine why she wouldn't have taken it further otherwise.

It's likely these are not big names, could be local radio/news non-entities, and the MOS is actually whipping up interest in the story by allowing us to think it involves household names. I can't imagine why they would choose not to name them otherwise, if they have all the evidence they need.

And all members of the clergy behave as upstanding pillars of the community and don't abuse their positions.

Not for one minute suggesting a parent if TW is a wrong un, but it's not unknown.

Knew it was something along those lines!

Quite.

It's not Tim Westwood or Terry Wogan!

The TW is not a household name - he's a BBC news presenter from more than a decade ago

Yep this.
He was shifted to the graveyard slot, as the article states. Then left the beeb.

He was married to a BBC presenter - an affair, they both left their spouses for each other - but they split in 2014, the year that this relates to.

That is the TW the Internet suspects.

That would fit with my theory that they were in a relationship, which is why she didn't go to the police.

I have no idea who you are talking about though. Was it local news or national?

Edited to say, don't worry found them both. And as I suspected, they are not household names. Hence why the MOS is choosing not to name them, They are going to get far more mileage out of this if people spend weeks speculating that it's somone we've all heard of.

Daily Mail often give us a clue by putting another story about the person they can't name in the paper.....

Yes I have seen that in the past being done.

Looks like this TW is antisemitic too. Nice.

in this case, even if they did I think you'd still be none the wiser.

”Yeah so happy and safe that one of the three gentlemen lamped some other poor underpaid person for not getting his dinner order right……”
According to the BBC’s own website it was an “unprovoked physical and verbal attack”
He also called the producer “lazy” and “Irish” and used a four letter expletive in the exchange.
Isn’t his now partner Irish.
😀
He did apologise afterwards.

Truth. I would gobble down a book by Russell T Davies when he’s ready to tell where all the bodies are buried. It would have to be when he’s ready to retire, I imagine. But yes, I’d absolutely love to see him go out with a “bang.” I don’t love everything he writes, but I respect his POV as a writer and he’s incredibly unique - writing for Channel 4, ITV, and still being accepted at BBC. A tell-all would probably be hilarious and quite biting.

Seriously? I very much doubt he’d want to get in to that kind of thing considering it would look really odd if he left out the whole period of time he was working with Christopher Eccleston….

Jimmy Carr is a man that needs exposing - i just know he has many crimes being covered up for him by the powers that be 🤢🤢🤢

"I just know" isn't a good enough reason to drag a man's name through the mud.

I know you think you're on the good side, but this kind of behaviour is quite chilling and can have catasrophic results for those at the receiving end of it.

Oh god its just a mumsnet thread

I reckon you're jimmy carr - who else is going around calling him a good man 😭

What was the issue with that? Did CE not like the way RTD ran the show (to put it broadly)?

Actually, I am not at all interested in pointless speculation which might cause significant distress for individuals who may be falsely accused, and I haven't read most of the thread. I came on to the post because it was clear from the title that it was inviting speculation and I thought that was wrong.

Whatever.

Tony Wadsworth?

Tinky Winky

Hoppity80 · 03/05/2026 16:50

I could absolutely imagine a world in which the woman didn't report it - media careers are incredibly hard won, at the time reporting dodgy behaviour and bullying was a no-no. If she wasn't a household name - it could really jeopardise everything she had worked for or as some have said they were in a relationship. Potentially a mixture of both?

LittleRobins · 03/05/2026 16:55

The Wombles?

mahiki · 03/05/2026 16:56

Russell T Davies ran Doctor Who when John Barrowman was getting his penis out all over the place. He had a show where a 15 year old character featured in sex scenes. I’m not sure he’d have much of a leg to stand on.
