I would imagine the victim would have been scared of never working in the industry again if she had.

Look at the recent Dan Walker case where he had over 50 statements to present saying what a thoroughly decent chap he is, only to settle before the case was heard. It might just be my opinion but I wouldn’t settle if I was innocent of the allegations.

He wasn't directly taken to court, channel 5 were, so they would have been the ones doing the settling.

It’s the online D mail, the worst for publishing rubbish ,take it with a pinch of salt.

Ohgoose · 03/05/2026 13:34

Northermcharn · 03/05/2026 11:24

Exactly. The fact so many people show horror when another mentions the Daily Mail, is hilarious. It shows Them up as ignorant and unwilling to consider different sources and asses the truth from sources they've read. Eg. The Guardian is worse then the DM for bias - but gets away with it because a lot of it is biased left wing tosh. The way the guardian supports men over women (a bit like Starmer), and shows antisemitism but never criticises the obvious flaws in other religions / demographics, is clear as day. If it was in the daily mail about other subjects, it'd be vilified. But its ok for hate speech against women, jews and white people. And there's no mention of the rise in sex crimes against women and girls, from a certain demographic. Why? The DM call it. The Guardian -no chance.

Could you clarify which demographic you’re referring to committing offences against women and girls?

Could it have been someone like Jeremy Clarkson? He was known to have a bit of a temper

A friends daughter worked on top gear for a few years. All three men were complete gentlemen. The only reason she left was the pay. It was a happy safe environment.

I know someone who worked on that show for years - said the tours could get a bit laddish but the team spirit was great and the three stars mucked in with everyone else.

To be fair, if I’d sent it via second-class mail, you might just as easily never see it again OR receive it in a few weeks. I know using “incredibly unique” may have shaken your faith in me, but I do have standards. I knew you’d want your pedantry medal sooner so that you can wear it out to black-tie events or just going to Costa, so of course I mailed it via first class. 👍 Also, it’s a lovely antique gold colour, if you are currently trying to plan a matching gown and sash.

Costa? I have standards!

Of course, apologies. I meant Greggs.

Presumably you don't watch live TV?

Live TV is certainly not worth paying for these days, sadly

mahiki · 03/05/2026 13:55

Well not so safe for the producer he punched. Edited to add that was in response to comments about Jeremy Clarkson.

BleedinglyObvious · 03/05/2026 13:56

@GiorgioArmageddi , I have been to Greggs. A member of staff in a shop asked me to get the staff hot drinks from there. As it was next door, I obliged.
I stank of the place afterwards.

Yeah so happy and safe that one of the three gentlemen lamped some other poor underpaid person for not getting his dinner order right. Sounds delightful.

OonaStubbs · 03/05/2026 14:01

I've figured out who it is. TW. It is obvious when you think about it. A regular on children's TV in the distant past and also occasionally on TOTP. Claims to be an "environmentalist". But I always recognised him as a filthy beast.

It is definitely Tobermory Womble.

You think 100% of everything in the Daily Mail Mail, every day, is false?

Certain newpapers have printed bare-faced lies about people I know on considerably more than one occasion.

The date of issue is about the only thing you can believe with any certainty at all.

She'd left long before that incident

justasking111 · 03/05/2026 14:05

Reading about the broken wrist incident it does sound particularly violent. I'd have gone after the bastard and probably never worked in TV again.

If it ever happens again, try burning the clothes you wore and using anti-bacterial shower gel. If it still lingers, shave your head because the smell is probably stuck in your hair. I don’t think you’re allowed in our local Greggs unless you have a hi-vis vest on. I’m not sure if they offer you a spare hi-vis, like when a spare jacket is offered to a gentleman so he’s not inappropriately dressed for a hotel restaurant.

I’m curious why you posted your comment suggesting it couldn’t possibly be Jeremy Clarkson as it was such a safe and happy environment on Top Gear when you clearly knew that he’d been in the press for violently assaulting and racially abusing a producer.

Well you must be interested yourself, otherwise you wouldn't be reading this thread.

Actually, I am not at all interested in pointless speculation which might cause significant distress for individuals who may be falsely accused, and I haven't read most of the thread. I came on to the post because it was clear from the title that it was inviting speculation and I thought that was wrong.

Really it's that bad. We don't have a Greggs here. I'd no idea it was that bad. Imagine having to work there.

My friend at school worked in a chippy. Her mum made her strip off, put her clothes in the washing machine and take a long shower after every shift.

Oi! Leave Jimmy Carr alone
He's one of the few male comedians that doesn't pretend to be a snivelling puritan

Over It Whatever GIF

Jimmy Carr is a man that needs exposing - i just know he has many crimes being covered up for him by the powers that be 🤢🤢🤢

and then they hacked Doreen Lawrence’s phone. Lest we forget photos of girls as they turned sixteen “showing off their assets”. Itsa vile paper seeking only to divide opinion and stir up hatred.

The mail disputes it hacked Doreen Lawrence’s phone - it's a civil case that's not reached judgement yet - involves few celebs and Prince Harry - so multiple threads in The Royal family following the case.

I'd say decade ago that was the view of the mail I think they and the public perception have moved on since then - I don't think it worse than any other right wing paper these days TBH.

I mean, I was joking (a bit) but I do know the smell problem is very real, and a lot of people don’t realize it. People who work anyplace that makes convenience-style food (a local chippy, Greggs, McDonald’s, etc) absolutely reek after their shifts. If working retail is already hell, then working in fast food has got to be the deepest ring of the Inferno.
