AIBU to say the Green Party has an antisemitism problem?

I said this in a conversation and got an interesting reaction.

I’m basing it on repeated examples of Green Party candidates and members sharing conspiracy theories about zionists, downplaying antisemitism, or even justifying attacks on Israeli civilians. That goes way beyond normal criticism of Israel.

I’m not saying every supporter is antisemitic, but there does seem to be a pattern with some of their people, and I don’t think it’s unreasonable to call that out. Notably, many of the people who have come out with these views are still party members.

A friend said I was smearing the party and that this is just pro-Palestinian views being misrepresented.

Am I being unreasonable to call it an antisemitism problem?

Well no they've been deleted. Because they were offensive.

Shame that we can't discuss antisemitism.

I have never been racist towards anybody and wouldn't be. I am not a white person and you are being incredibly offensive. I'd love you to say that to my face - but you wouldn't. Easy being a keyboard warrior isn't it.

The unfortunate reality is that many people (and I am not implying you) use the term Anti Zionism as a code word for anti semitism.

They then adopt their own personal definition of Zionism to justify this position, rather than the dictionary definition of "establishment and protection of a Jewish homeland and today focuses on supporting the continued existence of the state of Israel."

I would love to have constructive debate.

Can we please ensure that there are bans in line with the moderation guidelines on this thread?

I am not sure why my previous comment raising this was deleted.

What racist comments did yebba make ? I missed that. So many deletions, so much banding about of the word racism.

Well obviously I'm not going to repeat them...

You can @oopsBSoD.

However, we've just removed several posts referring to one individual poster. Some of those posts were personal attacks, others were referencing now deleted posts. We've done this so that the discussion can move forward. Moderation queries can be reported directly using the report button.

I’d ask Yebba but I can’t imagine she knows either.

Shame that we can't discuss antisemitism.

Some people are trying to derail the thread by posting, quite simply, horrific comments.

I have not had a single person who has read the links provided and denied that they showed racism within the Green party. There is just a lot of attempts to hijack the thread by those with malicious purposes.

I am well read and well educated. I understand what Zionism is and that globally, the majority of Zionists are non-Jews. I am sick of being referred to as being racist across various threads and for me it is not a code word.

Nobody is willing to say what the antisemitic comments are that they are so furious about, so that leads me to think that it's because the word Zionism has been used. That is not antisemitic. I am not anti-Jewish in any way.

We cannot repeat them, as they would be (quite rightly) deleted.

I wish we could just discuss the issue at hand, which is Anti-Semitism within the Green party.

Has anyone had a response from contacting them? I emailed them repeatedly regarding the actions of their members, to ask for their opinion on this, but they did not reply.

I can repeat them but I can't reference deleted posts? How does that work?

I also remember the posts, and they were undeniably Anti-Semitic, as they referenced Jews, and repeated Anti-Semitic tropes. This was the reason they were deleted.

Thank you for calling a spade, a spade. So far no one here has offered an evidence based opposing argument here.

There are sadly several who have repeated their vile rhetoric on the other hand..

I am also very unclear as to the moderation here. I have asked for clarification via email.

That it is being more widely discussed and it will be interesting to see how ZP deals with it.

If he starts expelling members than he risks creating divisions in his party but if he ignores it then the examples will increase.

My guess is that he will ignore
and deny it and try and shift the question on to other topics.

If he expelled members then that would show he was taking a strong stance against Anti-Semitism. So far, there just seems to be a policy of ignoring the problem, which allows it to perpetuate and multiply.
